Ridiculous difficulty level
After beating dozens of enemies, going through the "tutorial" area with the big room and the huge miniboss, using the elevator, avoiding the bigger enemies on the hallway, I have to fight the "slaver something something" with no saves in between"?
Who thought this would be fun?
Was there any "souls-like with no save" description somewhere and I somehow missed it? And what do my many stats mean? How do I increase my level? Why do I keep getting inferior gear instead of health items or something useful?

I can personally take you to the observatory if you want, it is between the 1st and 2nd big guy at the emissary if I recall. I am also in the same predicament due to work, but has never stopped me from going about places in this game.

Edit: When you come from the elevator going up to goto emissary, go left, there should be stairs to a room with a giant computer, the door behind that computer is the door to observatory.

Yes, there is a "souls-like" description, and the save are those rifts, they are basically the same as the bonfire in Dark Souls. Those rifts are where you spend points to go up levels.

When you reach the "Observatory", you can start upgrading your gear, it's very early in the game, it's a huge room with a ceiling extremely high.

The game isn't supposed to be easy, but I almost guarantee that once you have learned to reliable dodge, block and hit, you will have a lot of fun.

Those rifts can also be used to increase and lower difficulty level, but as you might guess, you get less rewards the lower difficulty and more rewards the higher difficulty.

Thanks! Where is the observatory? After the elevator? The one with a very long animation?
This is funny because it's been some time since I played, so I don't remember exactly :steamfacepalm: It has one of those rifts in it, and the area has no enemies, and is one huge room. You will get there, and you don't really need any upgrades before that.

The starter area is called Embassy, the next area is Observatory, so just get through Embassy and you are there.

BTW, there is a Hellpoint discord, but not everybody is comfortable with that, it is also a Hellpoint wiki on www.fextralife.com, it's not complete, but you will get answers to at least the basic things.
Thank you!
slaver is typical for souls tougher enemy, and it's also typical to have no saves just bonefires/ rifts here.
This feels like a git gud moment
"Git gud" sounds like such an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing to say. A lot of people want to play a video game for fun, not for succeeding against an absurd difficulty. You know, fun?! Like when people that don't have the time to play 8 hours every day, or don't want to get stuck at the same game for months, try to play? Then, the experience is important, not the bragging rights. And this game offers a frustrating experience.

Then this game is not for you, simple as that. People don't enjoy games are to easy either, some games has to have at least high enough difficult level so that it isn't just a bore to play. Learning how to master a game like this is very rewarding, you should try sometime. Unless you have physical disabilities, I think almost everyone can learn to play Hellpoint and have fun at the same time.

You also have the option to lower the difficulty at the Rifts ingame, so it's not like you don't have any options. Most players will increase the difficulty level, because once you have started to learn how to read the attacks from the enemies, it gets to easy. You can get there too, just don't give up because you don't master it right away.
Mainly with these types of games, "git gud" can be a real valid answer, although, most of these souls-like games have an absurd hit-box when you dodge, and can even be killed by a back-hit of a monster with the pixel of their weapon, which is very redonk. I have to say, that there are games that genuinely have this learning curve, and this even goes back to NES games. Some games are simply made for those whom like to be tested (looking at you commando and contra) , and some that just reward you with a good story and the grinding part is just for extra stuff that is just to bask in the game longer if you see fit. (example would probably be games like farcry, deus ex, elder scrolls series, fallout, and so on.).

I mainly just feel sad for those people who haven't grown up with games such as that, where you mainly have to learn and adapt to succeed, which brings up a whole new argument altogether with handicaps on games, because people don't understand the great reward of satisfaction for putting effort in something to get to the end.
I used to play nintendo games and I was very good at this (Ninja Gaiden, anyone?) because I had nothing else to do except school, but today I don't have time to play until I become good enough.
I don't want easy games. I adapted to enemies attacks, my clone attacking me more or less, but the game forced me to play a lot without a save of any kind. I still don't know where the observatory is, is it before the huge corridors, with the columns and the tall guys?

First area is Embassy, second is Observatory, it's very early in the game, and it's impossible to miss it.

You are very early in the game, it's completely normal to be having some trouble and challenges with getting used to timing and learn how the monsters are telegraphing their attacks. You will learn it, you just need to expose yourself to it, and if you are like me, you will start to feel when you are getting the hang of it, then the game is only going to get better and better. Just hang in there.

BTW, those Sentinels with white cloth in the curved hallway in the very beginning are very hard, you don't need to kill them, they are the hardest non-boss monsters in the game in my opinion.

If you have killed that Slaver black boss thing, you are soooo close to the observatory.

Edit: Had to edit away some misinfo that Reaper.J pointed out, better to remove it than cause confusion. It's been some time since I played and some things are getting lost :D

Celestial Beast is in Arcology. Arcology you need to go through observatory to get to Arcology. Where the giant guy with the spear is where he is at, and you need the key to access the elevator he is guarding. If he takes that elevator, he will be in Embassy. Left of him will be a console that says welcome and directions. If he goes out and kills the sentinel and goes up the steps, he will be meeting the giant computer. Behind the giant computer is the door to Observatory. If he goes right, he will be able to open the door to where he began. If he goes center, that will lead him to the Arisen Dominion area.
