I had heard about Kureha and or Zeliska surviving in the True Ending, I am just not clear about Itsuki. Does he end up being a good guy in True Ending, or...? Also, I've been trying to get the True Ending for a while, so I pretty much just gave up on trying to get it. But thank you for saying that since I'm slightly confused on all the things happening right now in the DLC. Is it required get the True Ending to play Dissonance and Abyss?
BEFORE doing flugel boss
- Get Arfa-Sys, Kureha, Zeliska, Itsuki, and Basalt Joe to at least Rank 4 75% affinity.
- Get Kirito, Asuna, Sinon, Leafa, Lisbeth, Silica, Klein, Agil, Argo, Yuuki, Philia, Strea, Premeire and Rain to at least Rank 2 50% affinity.
- If the above 2 affinities are done, go in glocken and clear all speech bubbles until speech bublles are not on map (you can ignore the home expansion guy). If icon still on map, quick travel to reload character. Regarding dates, they repeat if incorrect answer was chosen.
- Be sure to have completed the 3 lv 1 quests from Kirito's room (make clothes with Asuna, Appraise item with Agil, and Enhance a weapon with Lisbeth)
If still before Flugel boss and the above is done, arfa will give you a charm (MUST BE In main story mode).
You can now progress story normally. Yopu meet qualifications for true ending but can stioll get bad endings. To get true ending, prevent final boss's ultimate attack from happening (does this at low health). Either focus on mouth during its charging phase to stun it, or if overpowered, kill it before it fires.
After credits, do mind you will still be prompted to rewind time or return to title screen (new game+). If not wanting another newgame+, rewind time and NOT title screen
Thank you very much! Most of the guides I couldn't understand to get the True Ending, but yours makes a lot more sense. Hopefully I'll be able to get the charm!
Itsuki is changed by the events of true ending because it shows him the MC still cares from him even after everything he tried to do. He still leaves anyway but does come back in later events.
Itsuki has a small scene in dissonance dlc at the end if you pick all the hard options during it to see it. In final dlc of FB abyss he returns as a full party member permanently after a certain event in it transpires.
He also shows up once more in SAO Last Recollection as a party member that comes into underworld to help Kirito during the war of the underworld alongside numerous other characters.
Oh okay, thank you! I'll definitely make sure to get the True Ending. I had been wondering for a year or two what would change since it was a pain to get all the affinities up. Do you know if I have to do NG+ to restart it or should I just leave it be and let the game restart?
Regardless, you will stiill want to do new game+ on extrmee for lisbeth mod level 12 so you can maximize chip values.
If you rewound time, you will be brought just befor ethe flugel boss in story progression (the point of "no return" for recieving charm and certain missable affinity events). Since you can simply rewind back to this point, not actually missable, but stilll..
NG+ is not required for true ending but as Phaz mentioned already you will want to do NG+ anyway on extreme for lisbeth mod higher level.
If you rewind to just before the flugel events it does not reset affinity as it counts as the same playthrough.
If you reset the game for NG+ to start over you have to level affinities again from scratch.
There is however a trick to level affinities faster though. You basically get a lot of affinity for letting a character die and ressing them yourself (5% or something like that). Find a spot in the game where they die quickly and keep on ressing them. Will still take a while but its much faster than trying to level affinity naturally.
Human fortress level 1 highly recommended so you don't get interrupted whilst trying to res. Frankly you should have it anyway as its one of the best skills in the game because there will always be times when you get hit and being knocked back or stuttering on the spot due to a headshot sucks a lot (especially on extreme).
Only level 1 HF though as higher levels give you a defence buff as well but its far worse than the standard armor form or armor field buff and overrides them.
The reason many people insisted you need to get bad ending 1st is because of Kirito mode. Kirito mode only unlocks 1st time after the flugel events which is past the point of being able to get the charm from arfa.
It's indeed not required to get the charm but a lot of people think it is because the game itself doesn't tell you what is actually required and they likely met the requirements only after going past flugel events when its too late to get the charm prior to a rewind. The only flat out obvious trigger is requiring Itsuki's gun given to MC as it is part of the true ending events and without it the true ending wouldn't make any sense.
People can easily spread misinformation like this when they don't know the exact triggers.
