Is anyone else struggling with the challenge level with the shotgun turret?

Ive been at the ireland challenge for a hour and can't seem to get passed it. Any suggestions or tactics?

I have played for almost 10 hours today. I am at around the Kiev/Poland missions and getting totally crushed. I have no money more left. It happened so suddenly. I can't do anything unless I have a huge number of bonuses and full eye charges - which cost like 10-15k to resupply, for EACH mission. I have 1 of each tower. All of the missions were so manageable until this point. What the hell am I doing wrong/missing???...

No updates in a year and a half despite a roadmap being pinned at the top for more updates.
