Game freezes on a working screen after selecting control type.

The game prompted me to log into the game using my steam account. However, the settings show my account ID as 0. Also, I can't view the score leaderboard for the game's built-in tracks, and I can't find the Daily Challenge entry on the main screen. All in all it's in full offline mode now. What should I do to fix this issue?...

The game crashes right after it starts to load in past the first screen where you click for mouse or controller. I also verified the game files.

I'm curious if anyone has figured out where these bosses are frequently encountered or under what conditions they spawn. This is the last achievement I need for 100% and I've been going at it for a couple days in Boss Rush, but have had no luck. I read a dev comment saying the boss size relates to the intensity of the music which makes sense in theory, but in reality it still feels like the size is just completely random--I've had my metal playlist running the whole time, but boss size still jumps from 5k ...
