Visage
Be honest
Is this the scariest game on Steam right now, or is there an even scarier one???

No, it's still the best one.
Mortuary assisstant is also good but visage is better.
There're no other scary games which deserve attention.

I really wanna know this too. The scariest game I have ever played so far is Cry of Fear (it's free on steam). I can't even imagine Visage being scarier than CoF. Soon I'm going to find out though :-)

I'm just always concerned that Visage is too costly for what is on offer. Even if it provides the ultimate horror experience, a horror game lives on being unexpected. Once you beat Visage, it cannot provide that experience again. PT was the most creepy thing I ever played, but I've played it many times since, and it's just to walk through and appreciate the magician's trick, so to speak.
It isn't like the first time, where I had to quit my first session 40 minutes in because it was midnight, I had good headphones on, and the game was making me pretty uncomfortable lol.

I also have my eyes on Mort. Assistant. It looks pretty interesting and creepy. I'm just looking for games that have that mundane and creepy vibe to them.
P.T. basically. I want to be creeped out, not jump scared by BS. Actual, psychological scares.
That is what Visage really seems to offer, but I can get so much more game and gameplay for that money. Visage is just offering an experience to me. Some puzzle solving and probably a one and done affair. Maybe I would play it again a year, or years later, but I just know my 30 dollars, or whatever, is better spent elsewhere. I've never seen Visage on a sale that made me comfortable buying.

Hey I think there are plenty of scary games deserving attention.
Have you looked at madison? Seems decent.
Conrad Stevenson's Paranormal PI looks really intriguing to me. I like the slow burn horror and the investigation aspect seems pretty well designed.

edit: Project Nightmares and From the Darkness also look promising to me.

edit 2: I also hear great things about Lost in Vivo. I've looked into it a few times and I always feel like it wont be as great as people say, but it gets a lot of comparison to Silent Hill, which is my fav horror series. So maybe that's worth a try.

I got almost every achievement in Madison, but I don't think it really deserves attention. Maybe if you have nothing to do, but it's not the game I would recommend to someone.
From the darkness is a low budget project which I guess not bad but I still don't like it.

I thought the atmosphere of Madison appeared good but gameplay seems lacking. I must find true scares.

In case you have nothing to play Madison is an option as it was for me. Some locations are rather good there and I like that there wasn't too much chase.
But comparing to Visage, no they can't be compared.

So you would truly say Visage is top of the pile right now for Steam horror games?
How about Lost in Vivo? Have you tried it?

edit: also, your thoughts on In Sound Mind?

No, I haven't. But I have tried a lot, at least familiar with the plot.
I think Visage and Mortuary Assisstant are the top and nothing else.

Well, they are both on my list to pick up.

If you think Cry of Fear is scary...you're experience in the horror genre may be lacking. Like, try Song of Horror, or Mort Assistant. Visage is the epitome of horror because it deals in the both the psychological aspect of horror as well as physical as it can place one it a suspended state of apprehension and keeps the tension high, even during the scenes of intermissions where the player "thinks" their safe.

Thanks I'll check those out

Song of Horror is a little janky.
