A food service management game in the style of Death Road to Canada is not something I would have ever come up with, but it sure is fun. Blasting mutants on the highway is delightfully gory, and stuffing their guts in tortillas to feed to hungry refugees is made engaging by the increasing complexity of orders for fatter paydays. All the while, you’ll have to keep an eye on your stock of ingredients, your wallet, and your vehicle.

The game is very challenging. Even a few mistakes on easy difficulty can be fatal. A big part of this is the opacity of the map. Store locations and inventories are randomized, which can make for trouble in a pinch, though in my playthroughs there was an even distribution between the two types of stores and their available merchandise. The real obstacle is the map itself, which is randomized. In my first attempt, I was bamboozled that there were dead ends in Seattle, Wyoming, and Ohio, only to find that the routes changed in my second attempt, which cut through the Midwestern US instead of Ontario. You’ll be struggling to find the right path, as a wrong turn can cost you precious, increasingly expensive gas.

This is a little bit of a rough product, though. There were a few nonfatal bugs I encountered in the game, one where map routes from a previous playthrough were still visible, one where you couldn’t buy gas after a rest stop attack unless you went in and out of the store, and one where buying new armor upgrades had no effect after having your armor destroyed. Worst of all, the achievements just don’t work. The developers said they were looking into this glitch 6½ years ago and nothing has been done since. It would be one thing if this indie game was made by nobodies, but it’s pretty egregious to have an issue like this with a game bearing the name of John “Make you his B.” Romero.

Ultimately, you’re looking at good value for the challenge offered and passion on display. I don’t currently have the enthusiasm to try the game on higher difficulties after two playthroughs on easy, so I wouldn’t say it’s enticing as all that, but I think players looking for a game that will kick them in the pants will be pleasantly surprised.

i played this game on mobile 6 or 7 years ago, never did beat it....now i got a chance to. its worth the 3 bucks its exactly what it says theres no bs mechanics or glitches . besides maybe acheivments being broken but im not sure
