I just didn't care for the permanent scowl on her face, like she was continuously smelling what The Rock was cooking. Other than that there is slight attitude, but I barely noticed until someone else pointed it out.

yeah and coach was new and everyone loved him so that kinda proves being black had ♥♥♥♥ all to do with it

Louis is one of my favourite L4D2 characters other than Nick, Coach & Francis though... He has very funny laughters & screams

the community has changed yes, back near pre-release people were incredibly racist about rochelle and even coach. Rochelle still gets hate but its for her more bland personality and being a bit boring rather then physical characteristics now, also she has some of the most annoying scream sounds.

As one of those who played at that time, it is quite simple. Rochelle may be young and a kind person, people just hated her appearance and overall unattractive looking.
Some modders showed their love for her, and tried to make her less ugly with makeup and other outfits, and they actually well done with it.

I don't mind Rochelle but compared to the others, she just doesn't have the same charming vibe that Nick, Ellis and Coach have.

Rochelle is the nicest girl on the Nice List.

Even the writer Chet Faliszek admitted Rochelle just fell flat as a character.

i think the issue is that rochelle as a design is just so out of place with the l4d2 charecters shes just forgetable, and even compared to zoey

the main issue is that unlike zoey who is meant to be more grounded which with bill makes a good contrast with louis and francis's extreeme optimistic / pestamistic views creating humour

rochelle is just kinda grounded while coach is a optimistic man who loves his food, ellis a wachy charecter with half baked stories you cant even know if theres any truth to it and nick being the literal ass of asshats (which leads to comedic interactions)

rochelle just feels there even with the aditional lines shes just that forgetable because she doesnt interact with the other cast at all

and its always been a meme to hate on rochelle rather than actually being a bad charecter, shes not bad just not good or membrable

Rochelle can get weird weeb really fast: "We're here. Crescent City. I'll tell you now, I'm not showing anyone my tits." (scene World04.vcd);
despite that, she rarely is trying to be funny and cahrming: "I'm just playing possum." (scene GettingRevived13.vcd)

Ellis Coach and Nick usually all the time are taking all the atention of players. That's might be the reason.

I never thought Rochelle was a boring character but i could always see why people thought she was THE most boring of the 8 survivors. She does have some funny interactions that i think alot of people overlook, but her character also just seems to be "just there" SEEMS to be. But that was always her role to begin with as was with Zoey but the difference becomes Zoey expressing her interests where Rochelle really doesnt. Thats what makes her feel like shes "just there."

Coach is the designated archetype "leader" role of the l4d2 group but there are times where Rochelle will be like "Move over let me handle this" which should be to her credit. She doesn't have those quirky hobbies of a teenage girl (Zoey) because shes a older woman with the ambition of surviving the Zombie Apocalypse and living to tell the story for her career. But the writers didnt even really touch on that either in an interesting way. Shes not motherly, shes not exceptional, shes not quirky. Shes normal.

Shes an extremely normal woman that proves that she can be a remarkable and reliable person in a time of need. Shes not the kind of person that people would relate to, but shes the kind of person that you could depend on when you need to depend on someone. For better or for worse: that is her character. Rochelle is the kind of person where you might not enjoy her company, but you know youre chances of survival are greater with her than without her. And thats your goal: Survival. Not everyone you have to team up with will be interesting person, but a person like Rochelle will keep you alive despite being uninteresting.

i'm not quite sure, but i remember seeing people that they hate rochelle for stealing a player's kill in singleplayer and whatnot
