Computer overheating
Both my CPU and GPU fans are going at max when I play the game. And, the temperatures are rising dangerously high.

My CPU goes up to about 97°C, even with fans running at full speed. Normal temperature is around 48°C. My graphics card fares slightly better, maxing out at 75°C, but also runs fans at max speeds.

My computer specs are as follows:

Intel i5 2500 3.30GHz
4GB Ram
Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

GPU:
AMD Radeon HD 6800

Would really appreciate it if you could look into this as I'm reluctant to play the game at the risk of overheating my computer.

Apart from that - I'm really enjoying this game, and can't wait to see where it will go from here, as early access continues.

Same here, I actually just had my PC Hard lock from overheating CPU and GPU.
I have damn good fans, and this game is kicking the heat up higher than Satan's balls.

Also... twice now, my computer has blue screened when I click Exit game after a longer play session.

I guess it has to do with the overheating, but I can't get any specific information since the computer is rebooting.

Sadly, this means I will now have to give up playing this game until these issues are resolved.

Running a i5-4690k OC to 4Ghz and a Nvidia GTX 960. My GPU is pegged at 100% when the game is open or minimized, even on the main menu. CPU fares a bit better in menus, but in game it tends to roam north of 50% according to task manager (not sure if this means one core at 50% or 2 cores out of 4).

It would possibly help if they would add a vsync option to limit framerates to 60. That works well on other games I play. Like others above, this game runs very hot on my PC (with an nvidia 670gtx).

I tried turning off Ambient Occlusion and Bloom and forced vsync using the nvidia control panel and that brought my card temp down to 70 degrees.

Not helping me much. Temps still creeping up there, but much slower. Still can't play longer than an hour before it gets overheated. Fans always running max as well.

I never get above 60fps either... usually stays around 40 for me (optimization probably not fully developed in game, and my computer isn't exactly top notch).

Seems the temp problem got worse with the new patch. Devs pls acknowledge.

Gave it another try after the latest patch (03), and still can't play this game.

Please, look into this. In just about 5 minutes my cpu went from 47c to 98c... no other game I ever played has done this to my computer.

Hey guys - we hear you. We need to narrow this down starting with a couple things:
  • Your hardware specs, cpu, ram, video, and mobo if you know it
  • The current display options you have set in the game
  • A test - if you haven't already: please try lowering the resolution, and changing the graphical presets to min spec

Basically: we need to determine if it's explicitly a graphics options thing, a high-end/low-end computer thing, or a common game setting thing.

Hi. Thanks for the reply.

As for computer specs, I posted those in the original post.

Display is 1920x1080, 60Hz and running in full screen. I've also tried running in windowed, but no change.

Graphical settings, there's not really any change regardless of high or minimum quality from options. Even tried forcing my GPU to limit the fps (despite the game itself doesn't exceed 60fps at any time).

Let me know if you need more info, and I'll try my best to help.

Edit:
Just now tried minSpec in windowed mode (never tried windowed mode before). About five minutes in my computer was already starting to overheat.

Thanks. We're looking in to this one - we've made some very good progress, but I can't make promises yet

Good to hear :)

I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Sorry to say - but the latest patch did not fix the problem.

It did help a little, but within 15 minutes of play, my computer still gets overheated.

I'll continue to keep an eye on this, hoping for a solution so I can get back into the game.

Next time you encounter overheat, can you save the game and send the save file to support@ironoakgames.com along with your hardware spec. Thanks.

Save game is in the installed folder (data.bin for solo game).

If anyone comes across this, I was running into massive problems with my GPU running hot that I hadn't experienced in any other game. Turns out my GPU was pushing out 150 frames a second. Capped it at 60 and it was instantly better.
