PROOF there is a new .hack game on the way!!!
Okay, slightly click bait title, but hear me out.

-------------------
SPOILERS AHEAD
-------------------

I just finished up Vol 4 and was walking around town saying final goodbyes to everyone. When I bumped into Piros the 3rd. Who, in case you possibly forgot, "works" for CC Corp (aka CyberConnect2).

Piros says, and i paraphrase, "No, I am not sad that The World is ending. Because The World will live forever. In fact, the new project is currently.... Umm I mean, the future looks promising!"

Now, yes, sure, this could just be some in character dialogue. But personally, I am choosing to believe that it is an actual teaser and confirmation that they ARE working on a new project.
Realistically, it only makes sense for there to at least be a small team working on a prototype to pitch to Bandai. The franchise IS popular, and CC2 has openly confirmed dozens of times over the years that they have ideas and WANT to make more games. So they would have to have something to show off to get the green light for a full production.

And Piros has never lied to us before. He is a man of honesty, diginity, and pride! So, yeah, the future is bright! New .hack coming soon(tm)!

I think Bandai agreed to another game if they released a "remaster" of the old and it sold well. Now im not sure how sales were, but I heard they were much better than the original release

I dont know if Bandai has officially said anything. But, every time people ask CyberConnect about remakes/new games, they say they want to do them, but we have to make Bandai see that we want them. Not only through sales, but engaging on social media and emailing them (CC said themselves to send emails, but never say WHO to email).

Not going to lie I did thought something similar when I first finished Vol:4.
In many ways the .Hack was a mess after G.U many projects were made that probably tanked the I.P and Vol:4 did clear the slate, but let’s be honest we are talking about a 9 year gap and CC2 was relegated to SaO games and similar projects.
Now in .hack universe it does make sense for they rush the world r:3 but in the real world don’t see it happening.
TL:DR: I would love to see a new .hack series but I don’t think will happen, but Hey fingers crossed.

Would be cool to have more games, though I'd personally like to see a large remaster of the first 4 games, possibly in a single collection.

I have them all on ps2 but I know a lot of people never got to play them, and trying to get PS2 copies of all 4 games now can be a real pain in the rear, not to mention expensive due to resellers grossly overpricing them.. which has become something of a common thing with games deemed as "rare"... even if they're not.

The original and complete collection of .Hack games though is sadly not very easily accessible these days, largely thanks to the 4th game, so hopefully Bandai will remedy that eventually.

I'd be happy enough with light remaster ports in all honesty but ideally proper remasters with some big upgrades to the originals would be what I'd hope to see.

Absolutely. To be clear, I don't think the "hint" necessarily means a brand new entry, but could very well be a remaster of IMOQ. Which I would be happy with. Bundle Fragment into it and they have a huge profit on their hands.

Bamco owns the rights to the IP. People would have to bug them on all their social medias (usually Xwitter). The OG series way back did not do doorbusters. GU fared no better. The GU remasters sold decent, but decent doesn't mean much to companies like Bamco. A remaster of the OG games would be great. The only negative would be, if they no longer have the sources of the games. Unless CC2 somehow has them. It'd be nice if it can be done.

Thing is who says the new .hack will sell? .Hack fans lost hope ages ago and felt their loyalty is for naught and new fans will be harder to get seeing how .hack is somewhat niche.
Seeing how Last Recode is almost always on sale on all platforms really tells me they just want to make any profit from project they don't care about anymore.

And yet SAO gets a new game every year, despite selling TERRIBLY.

.hack fans didnt lose hope lol. What are you on about?
And if they remastered IMOQ or made a new game, old fans would flock to it.
New fans would be easily acquired as .hack is a much more well known series NOW than it was when it originally released. The second a youtuber posts "Cult classic .hack games from 2004 get remaster!!!" people are going to swarm it.

Quantity over quality. As long as numbers go up, that's all the matters. Shareholders only start caring when the numbers start going way down.

they probably have some working plans for a game until later on if they get authorized by namco, but i think its higher chance for something to occur after theyve done worked on the three games they announced, fuga melody of steel and stuff

Don’t expect a remaster from the original games, legend has that CC did lost the original source code so they would need to get a golden disc or remake from scratch.
Fun fact sadly this is a common thing now days EA is the king when it comes losing that stuff.
Teratus 5 de ago. às 11:01
Yeah unfortunately a lot of original code for many games has been lost over time, it's unfortunate that companies don't take better care of such things.

Sometimes they do find it though, like the original Fallout source code was found by the original developers Interplay about a year or so ago and it's now in the hands of Bethesda.

Funny you mention EA. When they approached Petroglyph. A dev composed of loads of Westwood studios and C&C vets who left EA in dusgust (I’m sure that wasn’t awkward at all…) they needed their help remastering the FMVs for the games among everything else. Turns out, EA still had the OG master VHS tapes for the series. In a frickin’ broom closet! I wish I were kidding. Petroglyph confirmed it(There’s a pic of the closet crammed with them haphazardly). So yea, most of these companies do not respect the stuff that made them their bones.

Yeah I saw that the sad part is when they released the 10 year pack here EA said that C&C 2 forward was in hard drives and EA ended up throwing away.
In .Hack’s case rumors is that the original source code was Lost do to hardware damage before G.U started development and the loss of it was a little inspiration for the new project.
The only confirmed info was when last recoded launch CC2 said they would love remaster but they didn’t have the code anymore.
