A pretty good Civil War game that takes inspiration from Sid Meiers Gettysburg and the Total War series battles and adds in a campaign - which is more of a series of linked battles with your own army management thrown in than a full chance to refight the civil war. Thoroughly enjoyable though and the J&P Rebalance mod is a great addition to the game too.

The tactical part is excellent, the units will (AI) react in a normal manner, esp. if not interfered with too much higher orders. The player does need to master tactical handling and controls and will find the battles much more realistic and reactive. The strategic part, much of it, is the campaign commander recruiting and equipping the army between battles, and that effort will depend on how good the commander has been on the tactical battles, and the play is episodic: fight a battle, reconfigure the army, continue. There are also excellent historic and custom battles to fight as one-offs. In all, an immersive experience. Highly recommend.
