I can't think of a single country where someone being pregnant at 17 is especially uncommon.

Not understanding teen pregnancy rates in 'civilized' counties sounds like more of a you problem to me.

Even in america the most civilized country there are over 400.000 children born each year from under 18 years parents,Just a quick google and you will realise its not that strange

Back when I was in highschool one of the thirteen year olds had a kid, it certainly wasn't common but if ya met her you'd go "Yeah sounds about right."

ok this is my point. i know teen pregnancy is happening a lot but any civilized person should be like "♥♥♥♥ that's bad". if just because it's "common" then you think it's ok, that's just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up.

It's just a storytelling device to leave room for a sequel; a cliffhanger.

The family curse lives on.

That's an age where everyone looks their best and is at their healthiest. Seems logical for pregnancy. The whole argument against early pregnancy falls apart anyways when it comes to the rich. Because all those problems go away with money.

Being forced to grow up much faster and having to deal with the massive responsability of taking care of a child while still going through puberty isn't something solved with money unless you're paying someone to raise your kid for you.

I found it much more disturbing that she died aged 18, presumably during childbirth. It fits with the theme of the game as every family member dies when we are done reading their story and this whole game is about her child reading her book. A child who never knew it's mother.
First thing I did when I started the game was to look aroudn to see if I could escape (you can't). I then loked down and saw her belly and thought: "She's young and is pregnant. She must have had a hard life." Followed quickly by "I probably shouldn't judge."

After finishing the game I thought, "Yeah... That's several rough lives."
