State of the game
It seems "finished"? Is it even playable? I saw a comments of the last patch, a complaints about major bugs, which is not fixed, nor even will be (since the devs literraly can't do that because of the bad code / design). I go to forum and ont the frist page topics about bugs, gitches etc.

There are currently about 500 players in games, i suppose online play is simply dead, can it be played solo?

The game is finished, patches are rarely released. Bugs are rare. Playing alone is very difficult and not interesting - but you can easily find a team in discord.

It can be played solo. it can not be finished solo (legit, vanilla)

You have to sift through all the weirdos in the discord though. Better off match making and finding players that way.

most of the weirdos are somewhat gone, but yeah... they're there sometimes
Matchmaking folk are usually a lot straightforward with stuff, and they can get things rolling just fine
For stuff you can't matchmake a team for you can easily do a discord lfg
