"Serious error has occurred while loading (name).world..."

I've tried everything but can't get the game to load.

- I verified the integrity of game files
- I uninstalled and reinstalled the game
- Launcher works fine
- I adjusted nvidia control panel for Sims 3 to force on v-sync and triple buffering (mostly to keep my fan from screaming)
- And I limited my FPS to 58 in the same manner, for the same reason.
- I set the launcher affinity to 1
- I have no custom content
- I have no saves

The game just won't load any .world files. When I pick a town, any town, it begins to load and quickly jumps to a black screen with an error message and boots me back to the select a town screen.

I've been all over these forums and the internet and it seems hopeless. It's pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ how consistently Microsoft manages to shoot itself in the foot.

Having the same problem, game crashes on the loading screen after I select the town. Tried all this as well but still no luck.

I tried to play TS3 on a new laptop with win11 system and had this exact problem. Is there any solution already? :(

I was having the same problem. I uninstalled the game and now I can't re-download it.

When DLC from Steam is uninstalled for this game, registries are left behind that need to be cleaned up. I am only guessing, but that might be why you are having trouble reinstalling the game. However, I can say that when I accidentally uninstalled all of my Steam content a year or so ago, I did not have any trouble reinstalling this game.

I was actually able to reinstall but now I'm back to the original issue where I can't load any of the worlds.

I have the exact same problem too. Just installed the game but cant play it at all since whenever I try to load Sunset Valley I get the error message described.
