Crash / Bug Report Thread (Updated May 20th, 2015)
Hey Dead Rising Fans,

While we hope all of our fans will have a great time with the newly Steamworks-enabled Dead Rising 2, there will always be cases where something may not function correctly under certain environments, or due to hardware or software. That said, we're looking for feedback from the community from those of you who may be running into issues with crashes or just various bugs. While we had a bug report thread previously, we've created a new one to avoid confusion between crashes and bugs before and after the patch that was released on May 20th.

If you'd like to submit feedback, please post in the thread here with the following:

Feedback Outline
A) Your System Specs (Please be as specific as possible!)
  1. CPU name and model
  2. Graphics card/chip model
  3. Video driver version number
  4. Monitor refresh rate
  5. System memory size
  6. OS version (Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 64-bit/32-bit, etc.)
  7. OS language
  8. In-game settings (fps, resolution, anti-aliasing, refresh rate, v=sync, etc.)

It would also be very helpful if you can also generate and post a link to your dxdiag file -- a file generated from DirectX Diagnostics Tool -- which provides detailed hardware, software, and driver setup for your PC. Directions on how to generate this file can be found here[www.fuzeqna.com].

B) Specific issue
Please share the specific issue and the area where you are experiencing the said behavior - if it's something happening outside of the game, such as a crash before the game starts, letting us know how you're trying to start the game or any messages that come up beforehand are helpful, too.

C) Detailed reproduction steps, if consistently reproducible.
This step in particular is extremely helpful for the development team. The more detailed info you can provide, the quicker the team can reproduce the error state and (hopefully) fix the issue.

Please note that any discussion unrelated to crashes or bugs can and will be deleted to keep the thread organized and make it easy for the development team to search through reports. Thank you for your feedback and cooperation!

The only issue I have is that I have questions of the Save Migration tool.

is there a workaround to import our GFWL saves that currently are missing?

I understand this is the wrong thread but what has happened to the achievements page, still waiting for that!

While we are here, can we know exactly what was fixed in the patch so we can know what to look for when it comes to old/new bugs ??

They fixed having to change the audio setting to start the game. I can confirm that. Unfortunately if you did not have dead rising 2 installed prior with the savegame, it is very likely that your save may not be there.

Can't get my Thrustmaster GPX Lightback controller to work. It's Xbox 360 compatible and works anywhere else.
The option to enable the controller in the game can't be altered.
OS is Win7 64 bits. I don't think anything else is relevant.
The controller used to work with the GFWL version

Silent Movies As To Silent Crashes

Dead Rising 2 Issue

2. Nvidia Geforce GTX 780 Ti

5. 16 GB of RAM
6. Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit

8. How am I supposed to tell you this query if the game won't even launch for one time?

I would be glad to provide the diagnostic info, but I would rather not post the whole info-panel publicly.

Like any other lad, I was just in the mood to kill some zombies. I have never had the pleasure of experiencing Dead Rising 2 style of carnage. The past week, a sale was going on. And who doesn't love a good sale, right? So, I purchased Dead Rising 2 and 3. I imagine the first step for most (as was mine) is to download and install the game! I heard that Dead Rising 2 had moved from GFWL to Steamworks, sounds great. Once the game finished downloading, I was excited to finally play it. Well, that didn't happen. The game is available in my library, downloaded and installed on my C: drive, and I have tried almost every fix I can find on the world wide web. When I try to launch the game, I get a silent crash. There is no flicker of any type as to signal the game even trying to start. I check the installation folder there begins to be a pile of crash logs all being as vague as possible. So there's the problem.

TLDR: Click play, silent crash, can't fix.

---Reproduction Steps---

Step 1. Install game to any drive (preferably C: drive for maximum compatibility)
Step 2. Press Play
Step 3. Wonder Why Game Has Not Started
Step 4. Think That It Was A One Time Thing, So Press Play Again
Step 5. Scratch Your Head As To Why This Game Doesn't Seem To Work
Step 6. Press Play... Again
Step 7. Get A Hate Message From One Of Your Friends As To Stop Spamming The Play Button And Actually Play The Game
Step 8. Close Chat Box And Press Play
Step 9. (Now Is The Time That The Irritation Sets In) The Game Still Won't Load... Press Play Again?
Step 10 Or Any Number Step Really. Press Play As Many Times As You Like And Watch Your Hard Drive Space Succumb To Text Files!
Step 11. Have I Ever Told You The Definition Of Insanity?

That pretty much sums it up.

Still need a fix for Dead Rising 2 and Off the Record not showing up in profile or on the activity page.

Yeah, they posted the list to the DR2 steam group but not here, might as well do their job for them:

In addition to the save import, the following issues have been addressed:

• Added in support for the X1 controller.
• Fixed a crash for users with usernames longer than 24 characters.
• Fixed a crash that occurs when PC audio quality setting are set over 48000hz

The game still crashes to desktop when I do the QTE perfectly for "One Hit Wonder" yet if I fail it, the game continues...that doesn't seem right. I posted about this before the new thread, so I'm not sure if you still need all my PC information from dxdiag again but if so, here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qnomrg9jq0kheeq/DxDiag.txt?dl=0

Can't join friend's game. Connection always stops at "attempting to join game" message.

I'm not even able to open my game now since this update. Is anyone else having this problem? I click on play from my Steam library menu and the only thing that happens is the screen telling me the game is booting pops up. Past that, it disappears after a second and I get nothing. Is this a common problem for others? I'd like feedback and hopefully a fix.

B) Specific issue
I click to open Dead Rising 2 from Steam Library.
A window titled 'Dead Rising 2 - Steam' appears with dialog saying 'Preparing to launch Dead Rising 2...'
The window disappears and nothing else happens.

I click to open Dead Rising 2 directly from the deadrising2.exe located within \SteamApps\common\Dead Rising 2
A new file is created within the same folder titled 'crash_(date)_(time).txt' and nothing else happens.
Dialog within crash_(date)_(time).txt:

I believe this is what is called a silent crash. I do not have any other information I can provide without further advice or instruction.
