Is there any way to have your infantry unit that is in Square formation EXIT square?

that if the 4 rating its not enough for the ships, the british can have 7 ships in line compare to the 6 for the french side. What is the conclusion, that for me the naval warfare its not important since i need huge superirority to score a minor victory. the developers could very well take the naval aspect from the french player and it will be the same for me.
