Unplayable for poorly sighted players
Such a shame. I was looking forward to trying this one but the default txt is so small and after 10-15 mins getting help to alter the GUI scale, it then doesnt save it when you restart.

I know its free but its still really frustrating as I love games like this

You are right, the scaling is not saved in the current release.

This, however, seems to be fixed in the current development version. You can try by enabling the "nightly" beta on Steam. Or just wait for the next release, it will come very soon!

Note you can also increase the font size (only for TTF fonts).

Thanks a lot for these tips and your reply.

I've lowered the resolution of my monitor so that everything is bigger and that helps a little.

Could I suggest a high-contrast menu option etc. I have also noticed that the text is really difficult to read on the marbled grey GUI etc. White text on a dark blue/black background is generally the easiest to read. Coupled with an option to perminabtly enlarge game fonts etc, poorly sighted gamers like me would be in with a good chance.

I know this is free and i dont want to seem like an ungrateful complainer so i do hope this input is helpful

There should be a high-contrast theme available (Display Settings-> Select theme). If it is not showing there, please let me know.

I tried the extra high contrast theme which made the text readable. The problem is the text is just way too small and I'm not going to change my monitor resolution outside of the game. I have to get up way too close to read things like tile location or the instructions. I did try changing font to one of the top choices which had BOLD as part of the title and that didn't really do the trick.

I wish I could scale the interface the way I can in Open TTD so that I could adjust what I see to a comfortable size. It's the one feature that makes me choose it over Simutrans. I played OTTD years ago and was looking forward to seeing what interesting differences there might be in this variation.

Oh wow I just tried this and I can't read the text either it's entirely way to small. How do you change the resolution it uses? if I have to set my monitor to another resolution I'll pass, it's just too much of hassle to be honest.

In options -> display settings, you can change the UI scaling. In that same window there's a button to choose a font, which allows you to change the font size too.

I like the saying a squeaky wheel gets greased. Thanks for the info as I found the UI scaling as well as to what fonts to use to increase font size. Now I can give this game a whirl to see how it works. :steamhappy:

Glad this post has been useful for other players too... Very goof of the DEV to post as well. Just hope the settings file allows these options to be saved so that the options dont need adjusting on every load. If the text can also be made more readable then I'll be giving this a whirl too.

Thanks all

The release was done two weeks ago, so the scaling settings should now be preserved between loads and you can enjoy anti-aliasing and text font size setting.
