Bioshock 2 is so much better than the first game. The gameplay is so much more fluid, the characters are lively, the environments and the atmosphere are as great as before, if not better.

There's one small difference in the main gameplay loop. Before rescuing little sisters, you can gather ADAM up to two times with them. This maximizes your ADAM gains especially if you choose to rescue them. Over time... This grows stale. You protect the little sister as hordes of splicers rush over you. Not very hard. Not very fun.

However, the final level was very, VERY fun. That alone made playing the worth it because the payoff was unexpected and really great. Overall I enjoyed this much more than the first game, especially with Sinclair's chatter.

Si las versiones originales de esta franquicia ya ofrecían una atmósfera espectacular, las versiones remasterizadas de las dos primeras partes de Bioshock son definitivamente la mejor forma de experimentar las historias que Rapture tiene para contarnos. A remaster that has no optimisation whatsoever.
Any time I looked at fire, water or even if I just did a melee attack the framerate would drop significantly. Other times it would be seemingly random. I have a 4060 and still have constant frame drops as low as 25, and that's even after I turned off water ripples and real time reflections.
On top of the terrible performance, starting the game opens a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ 2k launcher that has no benefit to the player at all. Trying to use a launch command to skip it caused a permanent black screen in game, but you can at least bypass it by just using the .exe, I did it by launching through Vortex instead since it was less effort.

It is a good game if you can get past the bad framerate and the stupid launcher but I had a bug very early on - I killed the first big sister and its body glitched inside a vita-chamber, stopping me from looting the Adam off of it - that just instantly drained any leftover motivation I had to keep playing the game.

the game itself is good as it was 15 years ago but
you need need to do much to fix the many crashes and even then not 100%
heres what ive compiled:

1] add launch option:
"BioShockHD" -run %command% -dx9
[for sequels "BioShock2HD" and "BioShockInfinite"]

2+3] change .exe properties:
library > right-click game > properties > installed files > browse >
build > final > right-click .exe > properties > compatibility >
run this program as an administrator + disable fullscreen optimizations

4] disable steam overlay:
library > right-click game > properties > general > disable steam overlay

/u/PromiseMeStars on reddit also suggested these in addition, but i didnt do
5] go into the .ini file and change HavokNumThreads to half of the number it shows
6] turn off power to the second monitor if one exists

Like Bioshock 1, but 2. It is Big Daddy time all the time, if you don't believe me give it a spin urself kid. Story is pretty goofy tho fun gameplay hits its stride halfway through. Does not overstay its welcome like my cat. 7.8/10

My favourite sequel. Combat is better, setting is slightly more grim, and as a dude, being a Daddy just hits right, killing mad folks to save my girls is quite enjoyable.

Played this when I was a kid and liked it but as an adult (and I just beat Bioshock 1 Remastered) this game was obviously worse almost immediately. Sad to say Bioshock seems one and done as Infinite is super overrated and not very good. My main issues with Bioshock 2 are the more action focused on rails stuff that is basically a quick time event. very uninteresting. also the lore and characters are worse. Gameplay is worse environments are less immersive. Almost all the design changes from 1 to 2 are for the worse. Hacking is now live instead of pause game. Its like they tried to make this more like an action game or something idk how to describe it. But it isnt good.

You can't beat the first game its so freaking fun and good.
