I agree, Harmony. I've had this in my GamersGate library for ages, actually installed and played it once but didn't really get the hang of it. I'm really enjoying it this time round -- the soundtrack is outstanding and the gameplay is well done, with attention paid to all the things that make a game fun.

amazing game dev but why no avatar auto shoot D:<

On the other hand, if you equip your summoned heroes with bows they'll shoot them all day long, getting good damage from a long distance away -- to the point that you may have trouble rounding them up when the battle's over.

This game is fantastic! everything i wanted out of an RPG merged with an RTS. luckily i chose a basic melee warrior to start with so the whole "my avatar won't auto attack" isnt a problem since the enemies target him first :B1:

I can't wait to start the sequel! and then its expansion, the then the next expansion, then the next... :ss13ok:

Just to mention that if you like this game, you may also want to check out the Age of Wonders series. Although Spellforce has a much more well-developed on the ground RTS component, the strategy aspect and gameplay are very similar to the excellent AoW series.
clyde, spellforce breath of winter is good and pheonix actually is a seperate expansion for BOTH TOoD and BoW. But spellforce 2 is absolutely jaw dropping, however the order of dawn will always hold a special place in my heart haha.

How cool would it be to see a Spellforce 3 announced? Solid and lengthy single player campaign complimented by an active multiplayer, graphics wouldn't need to be earth-shattering but continuing the evocative soundtracks would be welcome. I'm a newcomer to the series, just wrapping up the Breath of Winter campaign (hopefully), but it'd be nice to see this well made series get a spotlight.
I don't think we will ever see a spellforce 3. Or at least one made by the same people with the same care and quality (shudders as I think of C&C4) and I just might be ok with not seeing a 3 if its not as legendary as the others. I remember when I first saw rumors of spellforce 2 and that was back in the day when getting a pc game at any other location than a gamespot was impossible. When I first read about it (the manual as i was installing it) I was hating on it big time... No more rune warriors? No more rune powers? What happened to my legendary hero(s)poilers from the first series! Then as I played it, I quickly reverted back to OH MY GOD I STILL LOVE THIS SERIES, especially the cameo apperance of someone important that I wont spoil for you... But its awesome lol.

Nice to hear, I've got 2 sitting in my library, but first the 'Phoenix' campaign, which I'd imagine will be no pushover. Never say never on 3, although who knows what it'll look or play like -- I was by completely taken by surprise when Age of Wonders 3 was announced and by all accounts it's a faithful sequel.

Ahem, but Spellforce 3 was actually announced. And it's stated to be the successor of Spellforce 1, not 2. Little is known about the game other than it's in development, but it looks good from what I've seen.

Yeah I've always wanted a RTS/RPG hybrid pretty much exactly like this game. Glad I finally found what I always wanted.

Agreed. I played Spellforce 2 but got stuck on a game-breaking bug(haven't tried again but look forward to playing it after finishing Spellforce 1)... the AMOUNT OF CONTENT in this game is absolutely great...it went way above and beyond IMO

Your troops are upgraded as well. Otherwise it would've been impossible to compete against higher level enemies, since your guys would've missed all the time.
