You asked to nerf late-game grinding? We made it!
So, guys. Lots of us reported grindy ending...

First of all, we found a MAJOR bug. I'd say it is a mega-fault-bug. The main problem that the late game was grindy is that you didn't receive the fame award for winning the ranked fight. For example, you if you had 1200 fame and had to receive the 700 fame award, you would be 1900 after the fight and there would be closer to the next fight unlock. But it didn't work. So, guys! SORRY! Sorry for that grinding we forced you to do because of that bug. In the newest build we removed a reward, but changed the unlocks accordingly. So, you'll need about 2 times less fame to unlock the next fight.

Also, everybody ignored throwing a party, playing poker, etc. And just farmed ninjas/gangsters. The time didn't go by and training was not needed. That was very boring and grindy. So, we added a cooldown for the movie/gangster wars fights.

We also re-balanced fight series fighters a little bit to make them more challenging and not so easy to farm but also increases the reward.

Also, we reduced the time of party/poker/etc. actions to make earning fame more simple.

We hope that will make the ending more interesting and not so monotonic.

Changes will be applied to version 1.03

Oh man thanks! I literally got past the 3rd boss, and couldn't handle the grind anymore so had to stop. Then booted it back up and just saw I had enough fame to fight the next one already. Good timing.

The reason I ignored the throw a party/shoot advertisements was it would take nearly a full day to complete, and with the stats I had (13 strength, sitting because of Muscle Memory III), 14 Agility and 12 Stamina, taking a full day off to do those actions was about 4 days worth of training to catch back up. And that's when I'm downing coffee/energy drinks to avoid sleeping.

Though I do admit, high strength builds are not good, I figured that out. I know we're not really meant to have all of our stats so high, but then again several late game opponents have those stats, so maybe we are?

At any rate, that's why I stuck with the movies, because then I didn't need to spend an in game week catching back up.

Yeah. When we realized that the most optimal ending was 1) farm ninjas 2) drive to store, buy food/energy drinks 3)don't sleep 4) repeat, we were like :steamfacepalm: :steamfacepalm: :steamfacepalm: :steamfacepalm: . Poor players that had to do that! :steamhappy: We're really sorry for that.

The main reason for farming ninjas rather than anything else was because it was the only way to really get skillpoints. Also since if you wanted to play with your build it would cost you 30+ skillpoints each skill the best way to go about it was to farm ninjas once again.

This is the correct answer. There is hardly any other way of acquiring skillpoints except grinding movies. I don't even care about money and fame from that if I had more than the "3 points sparring every second day with Silver"... meaning at late game where you need 30 skillpoints if you did Silver alone you would have to grind for 20 days to unlock a single new skill... early game it felt like you had fights everywhere and higher rewards. Late game... between keeping stats at least at the same level you had to counter the horrible stat decay and then barely got skillpoints.

The movies were excellent for grinding skillpoints because Silver gives so few points he might as well get removed from lategame.
Thank you for doing that and easing up on the robberies.. that was lame.. why boxers get robbed so much?! That don't happen in real life!! YOU GOT AN ENTOURAGE FOR THAT
Hire a bodyguard for dat ass

so you guys wanted to make it less grindiy so u put a 2 day cooldown to the making a movie so now your maknig ppl grind by training over and over even though there hero can probably already win the game and all they need is fame. Strengh/agi and stam we lose WAY to much per day to keep this game interesting. I would like to play this game again but i already know how annoying and grindy it is to even replay it. im just glad it was only 10 bucks and i spent over 10 hours on it. I think some of the talents need to be relocated the ones that help you train 15% faster should be near the start of the tree and the ones in the basics should be pumped up to 30% to help with the grind

Currently my mouse is stuck as an hourglass and I can't move or do anything, the game characters are still moving and such as well and i can't save and exit so I'm scared if I force close i might lose hours of progress.

i do love the idea of cap of 25 for talents. I wasted so many picks and made it even more grindy. Towards the end. I think if you have the talent that doesnt let you go under lets say 13 strengh etc. you should auto learn the 8 and the 4. I had to waste 39 skill points to unlock 8 even tho i already had the 13 strengh one

Yes i Completed Mark of the Bear with the old method of farming ninjas to not pass the geame time, I even mentioned it on my stream of the game. I'm now doing the Tiger playthrough on my stream and eventually plan to do the Turtle. I wish once you beat the game you could skip all of the scenes as I would love to speedrun this game. Thank you devs for the quick reactions to the game and creating patches. The game is a blast.
