is the nividia card issue concerning 'forcing' the dedicated card to run instead of the integrated card related to just laptops, as i have my integrated card on my mobo disabled through the bios?
here are my specs:
vista 32 os
3.25gb ram
gtx 660 gpu
i3 cpu
win 10
i5 3210m
6 gb ram
geforce 640m
it does run on his 660, but it's choppy/juddery on medium and low.
reduced resolution fares no better.
should it be butter smooth?

Thank you!
Just checked on 560TI witch is slower than 660 and have only 1gb of memory, on 1920x1200 and quality set to medium i had 45-100 fps (most time around 65). Maybe you should check this topic http://gtm.you1.cn/app/391720/discussions/0/520518688941715405/
i've just just sent my dxdiag to you.
i've now got my friends 660 installed, same problems.
it's not totally umplayable, i just thought it should be nice 'n' smooth.
i'm using a 1080 tv at 60hz.
there seems to be forced vsync coming from somewhere.
i've tried to force it off in nvidias control panel through global settings, but that appaers to have no effect.
i noticed another thread wher you mention nvidia control panel choices have no effect.
how can i turn off the vsync?
internet is off.
no other programs on (no anti virus etc).
nothing downloading.
it's also strange that even when i reduce resolution to 1280x720 on medium it's still jerky for me, especially in colourful settings, it's pretty good when everything goes dark grey.
cheers for offering to help out. what a hands on bunch of guys you all are, much appreciated ;)
First off let me state that it was not Layers of Fear, but my computer. I did factory reset as i noticed games i had played previously didnt work either after i had the issue with this game. After the reset it worked perfectly and let me say this game is Effing AWESOME! I love everything about it, the twisted story, creepy immersive atmosphere, everything. I need more games like this to be released. Great job to the developers, now off to complete the game i haven't moved since i started it. I only stopped to write this because for some reason the door near the chains will not open and makes a swirly thing over the door know when i try to open it, wierd right, i know. I even watched a playthrough in this area to see if it was part of the gameplay but it isnt? Either way, it is amazing!!!! Definitely reccomend to anyone who likes horror and stories with an amnesia feel
