the best part of fallout was when the vault dweller said "ITS DWELLING TIME" and dwelled all over vault 13

This is the only Fallout game, everything afterwards (yes even Fallout 2) are merely inspired or spin-offs from this game. The aesthetic, the world, the writing, the soundtrack; this is how fallout should look, sound and play like. Yes it takes a little learning in regards to the controls but it really isn't as clunky or intimidating as people make it out to be. Exploring and fighting in this game is just as absorbing and immersive as any other game in the series. Everyone loves a high agility build and I do think it's the best way to do the most content in the game but there really is room for all kinds of builds, so long as you're willing to search every nook and cranny.

I love the look of this game, I'm really not fond of pixel graphics in general but this game is just gorgeous and captures my imagination so easily. I love the soundtrack, it's so clever and dense; a total mishmash of industrial, atmospheric and moody whilst still having a musical sound to it. The voice acting is stellar, the talking heads are striking and their retro look only adds to the off-putting feeling of the wasteland. Everyone is a little irradiated, a little deformed, a little twitchy. You are totally a stranger to the surface and its rules, there is no obligation to be a good guy.

In my first ever playthrough I was bleeding supplies and health. When I found a working water chip, I knew I didn't have the tools or the intelligence to provide an alternative water source to the people I was stealing the chip from. I left them to dehydrate, thinking the needs of my vault and its healthy, upstanding citizens would benefit far more than the irradiated surface dwellers I was stealing from. The game never punished me for this, but at the end I was told their fate. When people say this game is a series of tools with which you tell your own story; this is what they mean.

So so so hard, I kept dying in the tutorial cave, only get if you want a challenge
