Controller Issues
What controllers are supported?

Firewatch currently supports the XBox 360 Controller, the XBox One Controller, and the Steam Controller out of the box.

We also support the DualShock 4 via Input Mapper or other software that makes it look like a generic 360 controller.

Please note that you will need to select the controller type you wish to use from the Settings menu.

Steam Controller is not supported on Windows 8 or 8.1

My game seems to be pulling constantly to the left.
This issue has been reported on a previous version of the XBox One Controller Drivers for Windows 10. Please make sure your Drivers are up to date. You may need to reset your controller to default in the “Set Up USB Game Controllers” control panel.

My game seems to be make me look straight up and spin around in circles?
Are you using a DualShock4? If so, you will need to quit Firewatch, and install Input Mapper to make the controller look like a 360 Controller to your computer.
After getting Input Mapper working, restart Firewatch and go to Settings -> Controls and then select DualShock4 from the drop down menu.

If you aren’t using a Dual Shock 4, you are probably using an unsupported controller.

Still Broken
If you have other peripherals for your computer, like a racing wheel, foot pedals, flight stick, etc. you may need to unplug them.

If you are still experiencing controller issues after updating your drivers, and removing other peripherals you may need to uninstall Vjoy (or other virtual joystick) drivers. We have reports of these drivers causing issues even when not actively running.

It may be necessary to restart the game after unplugging any controllers.

I don't have any controllers plugged in! I swear! But I won't stop spinning
You may need to uninstall Vjoy (or other virtual joystick) drivers. Having them installed may be causing unwanted input to be registered by Firewatch.

I don't use any controller just keyboard and mouse.
When I start the everything is fine, but as soon as I use the mouse wheel, or right click, I just go always forward without pressing any key...

I can't stop spinning around in circles, I uninstalled my Dualshock 3 drivers a while ago trying to get The Division to workso I don't know what the issue is with Firewatch.

Same here, glad im not alone on this as I am also not using a controller

Same here with and without the controller. Reinstalling the game to see if this can be a work arount before you guys fix it otherwise may ask for a refund and get the game for the PS4. Alternatively you could give me the game for the PS4 and I'll be happy to keep playing it :P

Reinstalling doesn't help BTW.

I use an PS3 Dual Shock Controller and MotioninJoy Software to run it as ab 360 Pad emulation via Bluetooth on my Windows 10 Machine. It works absoluotley fine. Only thing is the game isnt showing anything of it, just keybaord buttons, but i got figured out all of the right buttons by now.

had to disable the controller driver on my computer and that seemed to fix the issue but then, no controller for me, just keyboard and mouse.

Woody it works, thanks for posting :steamhappy:

For folks only using the keyboard + mouse and having control issues, could you check if you have other devices plugged in, such as a joystick? We have had reports of people fixing the spinning issue by unplugging an unused device.

Let us know!

the game will not accept any inputs from my steam controller aside from the mouse.

I have an xBox 360 controller on my PC. Menu selections were scrolling wildly when I started the game. In the game I could not stop moving. Whatever direction I looked in I would keep moving till I walked into an obstacle. very frustrating. No problem in any other game.

Unplugged my rudder pedals based on a suggestion in this thread and everything looks ok now. Will restart game and update you all

Update: Played for awhile and everything seems ok since I unplugged my rudder pedals. Annoying but at least it works. I unplug my Saitek stick and throttle when I plug in my xBox controller anyway. I use my rudder toe brakes for gas n brake pedals along with my xBox controller when I play driving sims without any problem so I know they can exist happily together.
