Speedhack
I am trying to use CE's speedhack but it doesn't work. Anybody knows if there's a another way to speed up the game?

Same issue, I keep thinking I am missing something obvious.
any progress on this?
Yea that works . The "FF6fpsunlock.CT" by koacosmos.

He lists it as a FPS unlock, but actually it just works purely like the speedhack. Using the value suggested in the table doubles the game speed. It does double the framerate too, but actually re-capping it to 60 via Special K does not affect the speed, stays doubled, so gamespeed not really directly tied to framerate.
And the game doesn't have enough animation frames to look any better at 120fps, so actually capping it to 60 with specialK makes the scrolling smoother, even without the speedhack since speicalK's frame pacing is the best.

To get it working the best on a modern system with more intended / classic controls here what I did - use PS4 controller (I tried my PS2 one first since it feels more right to me for classic games, but this games controller support is garbage, so even with x360CE, I just could not get it to detect it.) PS4 controller oddly they actually put in native support, think it only supports x360 and ps4 controllers, like hard coded.. Either way, native supports not great either, so use DS4Windows.

In DS4windows:
Set L2 to HOME
Set R2 to PgUP

In Cheat Engine:
Use the built in hot keys (rightclick the fps limit table entry):
Set Home to set the value in the table to 0.008
Set PgUP to set the value in the table to default (0.0166666666666667)

Than you can toggle between double speed with the shoulder buttons.

There is a more complete table on fearless too, that has a hack to always give sprint shoes, which is a better alternative than having this on outside of combat. However the latest version of that table oddly changed the speedhack values so they don't work.. So you have to merge that one with the one linked to get all the hacks.

And imo neither are cheating since later games/ports, run by default or with a button is just something SQEX included without having to sacrifice an item slot. As well as double speed (EG FFX and FFXII here on steam has it built in, and uses the similar controls to what I explained)

Probably if I wanted to put more time in, I could set up a CE lua script to make the L2 just toggle the values, or hold it to double speed, but meh, put in enough time modding the game so it works pretty nicely how I like now. Not like you need more controls in the game anyways since it's designed for a SNES controller which never had shoulder triggers.

For games that work with the built in speedhack, there is a good lua script floating around so you can just double speed holding the L2 shoulder button. I can share it if ppl interested.
