If that is your logic your name suits you. There are new players joining all the time and for them it is not recycled. Further more those who did not complete it last year can continue.

Not all people have the time or are willing to do the event in 1 season.
Some of them have lives...
I am on the 3rd season and still will not finish this year, maybe next year....

Here are 2 tips for you.
For anyone needing to catch Chrystal Turbot. It says to use snow as groundbait but don't throw it as you would expect that means. You need to use it in a feeder cage.
The slingshot lobs the snowballs so they go over the top of people. To hit them for the challenge, I held the snow in my hand and slapped them in the back with it.

What are you referring to? Nearly every player wears a cap and you need it to equip the lamp. The slingshot is to launch groundbait so it is not a toy. People actually use them irl.
The glasses are polarising to cut glare from the water and are also used irl.

EDIT:
The event description says you get the slingshot, cap, lamp, and glasses if you finish the event. This is incorrect as, unless the event has been changed, they are actually mission rewards you need to use during the event so check your Xmas event mission descriptions.
