But Im pretty sure this allready exist in the ubersheet.
Nice job guys.
Can I follow with a question ? (and obviously I will lol)
While I also do understand the use of "knowing" what drag setting cause what tension, what is the impact in game to use it directly to max possible setting that will not break the line ?
I personally still use a setting at 1/3 of the line resistance, and then apply more drag as soon as I have a bite... Is that method have a negative impact on my fishing results ? (earlyer on my gameplay I tend to use it to the right max drag possible though)
If not, then why would I need to know the exact tension applied to what drag setting if I by no mean will need to use directly to it's max possible safe drag force ? I ask that because basically I can simply apply along my reeling the tension needed to get the fish.
So while I applaud the great work, I tend to still really not get why it's usefull.
Sorry to sound dumb, but my question is really a serious one, as to me it seems I'm missing something very important, if you guys did put so much effort on this.
Thanks for clarifying, if someone would do so.
As for the settings that we have marked in yellow and red on the sheet. The yellow setting can and will increase the damage that is applied to your reel dependent on fish size and the amount of tension the fish puts on the line. The red settings will snap your line as long as you are not using a higher line weight then the reels maximum line weight. If you are using a line weight that is over the maximum line weight for the reel, then you are going to break your reel.
The amount of damage the reel is taking when fishing with the drag setting in the yellow can't be calculated on our end as their are a lot of variables. On the reels there are different shades of yellow. I'm pretty sure each shade of yellow pertains to a certain percentage of damage. This range can not be held within a range of drag to calculate the amount of damage. I don't even know if the devs would be willing to give up this information.
Each trip to a lake usually is about 5+ days if you're wanting to make any kind of profit. So it all really comes down to, do you want to save some money and stay out of the yellow and most likely do no damage to your reel, or is it profitable to accept those repair cost for the damaged reels and set your drag settings to be in the yellow. This is all up to the individual.
You should never ever use a line weight that is over the maximum for the reel. Doing so and setting your drag to your line weight; there is a high probability that you will break your reel.
If you break a reel that was bought with the in game currency in the in-game shop,, it can not be repaired. Only DLC reels can be repaired when they are broken.
At some point I was really starting to wonder if I was totally missing something important that would lower my catches or something like that.
I ofc did break lines either by lack of knowledge early on, then due to snags, and later due to some lack of attention, as I also have 2 buttons on my mouse for playing with drag... so one notch too far is still always a possibility.
And indeed as I'm most of the time fishing near the right targetted weight fishes with gear that is matching the fishes I want to catch, I'm one with what I would call reasonable repair costs, and I usually closely monitor my actions on the bars and quickly understood there were actions while reeling in that were :
1 improductive
2 putting too much un-needed stress on my reel
So yeah I usually let my rod do some work too.
But then I for that reason alone (repair costs) I better understand the value of knowing those settings compared to fish weight targeted.
Tight lines all
Its the only good reel for the 28lb line :(
