First thing I entered was "the lab" where I played around for a while. Moved cadets around, was shooting for a bit, grabbed all powerups with one...
Then I finally went to storymode... and first level completed also gives me "God mode" achievement. Apparently those powerups from Lab did count.
(Also got achievement for "first kill" but that looks easy anyway...)
