Hi everyone, I'm right towards the beginning, and I feel like I've been running in circles forever. What s required to move on past the abandoned village?

I barely got to the troll level and just got LOST. Am I supposed to be able to crawl? I have no idea how to do that, there's no tutorial here, and even pressing random buttons to try and find the command myself hasn't been helpful. I am running around in circles in the same small map and I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. This is poorly designed.
