You must have missed all the articles and discussions out there urging everyone to disable the launcher before they start playing the game. Your saves are not gone either, they got moved around into a different folder and you should be able to restore them once you find them.
I think it might be Denuvo doing this when it sees the launcher has been disabled. Denuvo is another cause for issues in this game.
All settings turned to low. DX 11 on. Nvidia settings performance enhances. Executable set to run in admin mode and disable fullscreen optimisations. Fullscreen set in game settings (not borderless). I think that's about it.
My launcher seems to kill itself when it launches the game anyway, so i don't see why that would be an issue anymore, as long as it's not running in the background. Also, i have no idea what Denuvo is. How can i disable that?
I'm sorry, but you went and messed with a ton of settings, and now you're blaming the game? You made bad decisions, live with them.
The settings i changed should not have caused the issues that they did. the general consensus is that the game is not well optimized, especially for lower end on the spectrum, even when they are matching or above the 'recommended' (not minimum) system requirements, like mine are.
Regardless, the settings i changed did eventually fix much of the issues i was having. The damned launcher was just making things behave weirdly. So you can spare me the unhelpful, snarky, condescending attitude. It doesn't make you look cool or clever, just like a fool.
Ooo, a few people agreed with you, ergo that's general consensus?
I have a degree in IT, so I'm far more literate than some gamer bro. 99% of the issues on people's machines are caused by the stupid things they do with them. You already admitted to screwing around with settings, so you have your answer.
The simplest answer is usually the right one. The simplest answer here, is that you messed up.
Listen Kiddo, i'm not interested in hearing you stroke your own ego. For someone with an alleged degree in IT, saying things like "Oh you messed with settings and now it doesn't work" is the dumbest comment, when i specifically said which settings i changed, and you ought to know exactly how they would result in what they did and did not, it's not bloody rocket science. Did you even offer an explanation to why those errors were happening? No, because you don't know what you're bloody talking about, you've just come to the forums to puff out your chest and talk ♥♥♥♥, despite the fact the changes i made DID fix the issues i was having with the game, and constantly overlooking this fact as well as the 2k launcher which everyone pretty much agrees is a buggy piece of ♥♥♥♥. The response and critique on this has been overwhelming, it's not just a 'few' people, just spend 5 seconds on google or even in the steam forums to prove this to yourself.
Seriously, you've gone from sounding like a fool, to now a fool AND a bullshitter. Just stop digging yourself this hole, it's embarrassing. I fixed my issues, the changes worked, the launcher is ♥♥♥♥♥♥, that's all there is to it. End of story. Move on and go troll someone else. Or perhaps go offer your acute IT expertise to someone in need instead of being snarky and unhelpful on steam forums. Grow the f up. I'm done here.
Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Marvel's Midnight Suns\MidnightSuns\Binaries\Win64\Marvel's Midnight Suns\Saved_Steam_<user-id>\
<user-id> is your profile's "steamID64" number value
For some reason after upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11, the game stopped looking at save data there and instead saved blank/new profile & save game info here instead:
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Marvel's Midnight Suns\Saved_Steam_<user-id>\
This scared me with 20 hours in! So I copied files from the deep binaries folder to a backup location, then to the user profile folder, and it worked! I had Steam cloud saves enabled all along, so I have no idea why those didn't recover my saves that I found from the prior folder. So as long as people have another form of save backup, they may want to disable cloud saves for the game at least for a while if they're concerned about these weird issues happening with their game.
