Elder Scrolls Legends is shutting down on January 30, 2025.

Another one bites the dust, joining games like Travels, Shadowkey, and Oblivion Mobile that are no longer with us.

Legends had so much potential to be the perfect Elder Scrolls card game, but now it’s coming to an end. Even though Bethesda’s pulling the plug, I’ll always remember the fun and the incredible stories it gave us.

The game told four amazing tales from the 4th Era, all narrated by a Moth Priest named Kellen during his adventures with his companions. Three of them followed the Forgotten Hero, and one focused on a Dunmer named Talym Rend.

The first story was about the Great War, where the Aldmeri Dominion invaded the Imperial City. The Forgotten Hero and their allies fought to stop the Dominion, saving the Empire even though the Emperor ended up signing the White-Gold Concordat in the end.

The second story followed Talym Rend, a former Blade trying to cure his son’s madness by serving Sheogorath, the God of Madness. In a cruel twist, he finds out his son was dead the whole time, and Sheogorath had erased his memory over and over. Talym eventually defeats the Mad God and sets his sights on avenging his son by going after the Cult of Worms.

The third story brought us back to the Forgotten Hero, hired by a man named Uther to infiltrate and destroy the Dark Brotherhood. It’s a dark and tragic tale, ending with the death of the Listener, Alisanne Dupre, who reveals that Uther killed her mother, leading her to the Brotherhood in the first place. The sanctuary is destroyed, and no one really wins.

The last story dives into the Clockwork City, where Sotha Sil is working on an artificial Heart of Lorkhan to power his city forever. Mecinar, his former apprentice, wants to use the heart to become a god. The Forgotten Hero steps in to stop him, but the ending is left mysterious—was the heart destroyed, or did the hero’s soul become one with the city?

It’s sad to see the game go, but I loved every moment I spent with it. Big thanks to everyone who worked on Elder Scrolls Legends—you gave us something truly special.

Legends truly was a legend, and though it’s leaving us, it’ll always live on in the hearts of those who played it. Farewell, old friend.
