Game suddently started crashing non stop between 1 to 180 minutes.
As the title says, I've been playing this game non stop for 2 years without ever having any problems whatsoever. My last playthough was probably around 2 months ago, it was fine then. I reinstalled the game a few days ago and now it is crashing all the time. As in returning to the desktop without any error message.

I've tried everything I could think of. Here's what I tried;

-Reinitialized my PC
-Not using the 4GB patch to fix the green cutscenes. Usually I was always using it so I thought I'd try without it.
-Updating my drivers.
-Going back to older drivers dating to october where I didn't have any problems.
-Reinstalled steam.
-Emptied the game's files and did a clean install.
-Disabling overlay steam.
-Removed cores from the game's process while it is running.
-Verified my PC temps, they are all normal.

At this point, the only thing I could think of is that a windows update did this.
Any ideas?

Here's my spec:
13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900KF
Windows 11 (64 bits)
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti
RAM : 32GB DDR5
NVME M.2 SSD

Is that FFX or FFX-2?

FFX really shouldn't be crashing. But FFX-2 has a bit of a problem with crashes on some systems that have so far not been diagnosed conclusively (though it seems to happen almost exclusively when using the three girls, and not when using fiends while fighting). Consequently, there's also no good solution other than just using fiends to fight as much as possible.

FFX. It IS crashing constantly. Can be anytime during gameplay; IE during cutscenes, fighting, walking around, staying IDLE, it doesn't matter. It randomly crashes very often. It wasn't a month ago and now it is. I'm gonna be honest it's upsetting that a game which ran perfectly fine for 2 years stared crashing constantly with no apparent reason whatsoever.

All other games I tried are working perfectly fine.

So saying it shouldn't be crashing doesn't help me with all due respect. It just does and I'm looking for help.

I am currently in the process of trying various games and letting them run for hours, I will let you know if I get any crashes, so far I have had none outside of FFX.

I'm gonna add that I made sure that all my drivers are up to date, even my BIOS firmware is updated to its latest version.

Well fellas I think I found the culprit. Turns out I was right. Everything points to the latest windows 11 Update, version 24H2 I think, causing compatibility issues with this particular game.

Reinitialized my PC but this time prevented windows from updating itself. Been on for about 7 hours without a crash so far. Will be posting again if I get a crash.

That means this version of the game is going to become unplayable soon guys unless a future update fixes whatever is causing the compatibility issue. Enjoy it while it lasts.

At least I'm hoping that this will be helpful for any potential player out there encountering the same issue as I have.

It isn't just this game it is affecting, it is affecting many more like path of exile 2 as well.

Your problem seems to be a little different than mine. I was able to load my save files without issues, it would just crash randomly during gameplay. So I cannot say if our problems are related. Feel free to try some of the things I have listed above, it might help. I hope you can fix it, this is a great game. Good luck!

tienes razón porque en mi pc de sobremesa si funciona bien pero en mi consola tipo steamdeck no puede ejecutarlo. lo raro es que el final fantasy xii zodiak age si me lo corre perfectamente. en fin hare el reembolso pues lo quería expresamente para la consola portátil

ya esta solucionado bajando la resolución a 720p aunque sigo diciendo que el ff12 zodiak age me lo mueve bien a 1080p, sera tema de mala optimizacion o nose
