Same issue here. When using a standard XBox series wireless controller, with Steam Deck docked, the analog stick jumps over two spaces for each menu selection, making some impossible to select without invoking the Deck's keyboard. Would be great if we got a fix, since it's an awesome game to play on a big TV with a partner.
In my opinion, I think to get verified status, a game should support external controllers, at least one as common as the XBox controller. I can see why some wouldn't agree, but it makes sense since Valve will probably release a console like box at some point too.
In the meantime, I'm enjoying the game on my actual PC.
Edit: I haven't tried the windows native version on Deck docked yet; I just ran whichever was the default.
