The Silent Age Crashes whenever I open it and move my mouse
Whenever i try to open The Silent Age it will open and i will see a screen for which language i want to choose but as soon as i move my mouse the game crashes and i have tried looking on google but i am not seeing this problem. I really wanted to be able to play this game but it keeps on crashing and I do not know what to do to fix this problem so if anyone has any possible fixes or help on this please leave a comment and let me know thanks.

Edit: I figured out i am able to launch the game through the .exe in the containing folder where steam installed the game but it does not track playtime or let me earn achievements and i really do not know what the problem is if anyone can help me that would be excellent.

Same problem. The only solution I found is playing with Xbox controller.

wow that's odd same thing worked for me i played it without a controller because it would only launch through the .exe without running through steam for it not to crash but i connected my steam controller and used that and it didnt crash thanks for the suggestion

Bought this game on the Summer Sale. Having the same issue. Crashes with any mouse movement. Anyone found the cause?

Same here. With lowest resolution I come to the language select. The moment I move my mouse the game crashes.
Also, the game seems to crash at higher resolutions, windowed or fullscreen.

I got it working for me. I had to change the controlelr settings on Steam Big Picture to not use the Steam Controller.

SOLVED : search for game folder, then in the property of the exe (TheSilentAge.exe) , check the compatibility mode AND run as administrator
No more crashes when using the mouse

Thank you! I already played the game by not launching it through steam and only clicking the exe in the installation folder but thank you your fix worked with launching it through steam as i am no longer experiencing crashes for opening the game thank you :)

Had the same problem, I tried that fix where you run it as administrator and it runs fine, but the Steam Overlay isn't on, so I'm not sure if the achievements are being logged, play time is though

"Compatibility Mode (Windows 8)" and "Administrator privileges" worked for me as well. I didn't try to use Steam Overlay features, but the achievements were logged properly. I think I had the notifications as well, so Overlay worked.

i considered this as all options are for a joystick but thought surely that couldnt be the problem as it worked np when i 1st installed i, but low and behold connected my 360 controller and it is working fine with my mouse as long as controller connected. live and learn thank you :)

Neither fix is working for me. I also tried both fixes and the game is still crashing.

EDIT: I figured out how to fix it. I had a driver called vJoy installed, so and deleted it and that fixed the crashing issue.

Steps:
1. Right-click on Start Menu button and select the Computer Management option.
2. On the right side of the Computer Management screen, select Device Manager.
3. Open Human Interface Devices.
4. Find vJoy or whatever other game pad or joystick interface you're using.
5. Right-click on that program and click on Uninstall Device.
6. Click on checkbox to completely uninstall the drivers.
7. Click on Uninstall.
8. Restart computer when prompted.

thanks everyone for adding to this thread. For me, none of these worked until I just unplugged all of my controllers.

If you have a controller plugged in, un-plug to play with mouse. Easy peasy.
