Has anyone gotten this game to launch?
Seriously. I can't even get it to load an error message so I can have a chance to figure out *WHY* it isn't launching.

That makes one person total who can confirm it'll even launch I've found. Any word yet on if or when the developer's gonna start supporting the game? I've been trying to pry at least an idea of what the issue is out of them since release day.

The game is not supported anymore, but it launches fine for me.

Was it ever supported to begin with?

I just bought it and it runs fine for me

I take it you closed the pop up about the code you need to play online? The game wont load until you close the dialog box

No I've literally never been able to get it to launch. At all. Ever. As in I install, hit play and I don't even get an error message, and according to my computer a lot of times the process only is active for a second or two at most with no other indicator it's even trying to launch. As in I contacted the developer week of release and still haven't heard back from them on how to fix the issue. As in I contacted the third party distributor, BMT micro less then a month after release, trying to see if they had correct contact data for the developer, because I still hadn't heard back yet, but only after steam support directed me there, saying they were my best shot of getting a working e-mail address for support from the developer.

As in I posted asking this very question in this very forum the first time more then three years ago, have actively looked through forums for years, trying to find a possible issue, and tried nearly everything suggested except for what was physically impossible, like switching to an Apple to try running the game on.

All I need to know is if the developer has ever offered to fix this game to a launchable state, or at least some indicator why it won't for pretty much anyone I know who ever bought it, and what the necessary fixes are.

Yeah that's what I mean, when you hit play a dialog box opens in steam with the CD Key for the game, you have to close this box before the game loads in. You need the code for the game so copy to clipboard. If you hit play and nothing happens move your mouse pointer over the steam icon in the windows task bar, it should show 2 open windows click on the 2nd and hit close and then the game should load

I don't think you understand here. It has never even gotten that far. Ever. Not once. There is no second window. No CD key entry prompt to disable. I've never even had the option to close the dialog box you're referring to, because it never occurs to begin with. The game literally won't complete loading far enough for what you're advising me to do, to even be possible to occur.

Ah ok can you try right clicking on the game in steam, going to properties then local files, brows local files and then try running the GB2.exe from there and tell me what it does?

I'll save you some time. Same thing. Same thing every alternate way to try to launch it I've been told. Same way on compatability settings, same way even on a new computer entirely.

There were two issues I needed to solve; first fix the resolution in the .ini file in very much the same way as needed for Gratuitous Space Battles 1:
https://gtm.you1.cn/app/41800/discussions/0/1640915206482532882/

Second Bitdefender was prohibiting storing save files to the local disk, and I had to add an exception to allow GSB2 (in the "Safe Files" portion of Bitdefender). If you are not using Bitdefender, whatever antivirus/security system you use may be blocking something similar.

Hello:
Sorry, but has anyone tried the compatibility mode. I mean, the game has been around for a few years. During the first battle the game was extremely laggy, absolutely unplayable. I have now started it in compatibility mode, set to Windows 8 as recommended by Windows and everything works fine.

Literally didn't help. And yes this is almost three years *after* this thread, and almost 6 after game was first sold to me on steam and steam support refused to refund it despite the fact it's literally never launched.
