Only question I have is are you running any mods or anything external like the shopping mod? Or is this just an unmodded Scholar install?
I've never run a mod on any of my games before
Try this as an additional troubleshoot:
Back up your save file so you don't lose your 30 hours.
Delete the old save in the DS2 folder, start a fresh game. Speedrun to Gavlan and see if he still crashes. If he does not crash when you interact with him, then your old save file may have been corrupted. If he still crashes, then I would contact Bandai Namco support, honestly.
I will try that thank you. Honestly not sure what the hell this even is. But to clarify if it turns out the old save was corrupted does that mean I delete the backup?
Yeah, if it's corrupted there's no sense in keeping it because it will always glitch. It's honestly a very interesting bug, I have never heard of it!
