How to fix FMV/cutscene audio issues
I've been playing through some Star Wars games on my new Linux PC lately and didn't know how broken the TFU2 videos were. The base FMV files of TFU2 on PC are in .asf video format which is not very well supported by modern systems. With this post, I'm going to explain how to re-encode all FMVs in the game into .mp4 using the correct English audio track (you can choose a different track if you wish). Note that this should also work for Windows.
  • First, download and install VLC Media Player and set it as your default media player (the game will use your default media to play the videos).
  • Next, download and install Handbrake so that you can re-encode the video files. File locations are as follows (there are 49 in total, with the exception of KAM1_INTRO since that one has a different video file for each language).
  • Linux example: /mnt/games/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2/Game/Disc/FMV/Win32/
  • Windows example: C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2\Game\Disc\FMV\Win32\
  1. Open Handbrake and drag the Win32 folder into it.
  2. Under the "Audio tab"[postimg.cc], select track 1 by double-clicking on it and changing the source track to 1 (here is where you can switch to your preferred language: 1 = English, 2 = Spanish, 3 = French, 4 = Italian, 5 = German).
  3. Click save.
  4. At the top of the screen next to "Add To Queue"[postimg.cc] click the down arrow and select "Add All" to add all 49 files to the transcoding queue. You can optionally change the output folder but by default, it will save them in your computer's default Video folder on your main disk drive.
  5. Click "Start" and wait for the transcoding to complete. It can take anywhere from 10 mins to over an hour depending on your system specs.
  6. Once complete, remove the .mp4 extension from all the video file names.
  7. Lastly, simply copy or move the files into your game's Win32 folder as noted above and overwrite when asked.

That's it! The game should now play the FMVs in your preferred language.

Can confirm that this solved my issues on the deck.
Only problem Is that handbrake for some reason doesn't recognize the files, i had to open one by one and right click open with handbrake
Nice, glad you found it helpful! That sucks about having to do it one by one though, that .asf extension is just a pain. You should be able to do it by folder or dragging and dropping the files.
