Movie won't play, just me?
Just got to the part where the opening movie is supposed to play. The audio played the song but the screen was black. I also changed the movie settings to the other two options and it worked for 10 seconds but then it crashed. I reported the bug but anyone able to run the movie fine? You can view the movie by getting 3/4 of the way through the nagisa arc
edit: you can view it by waiting a minute in the main menu without doing anything
I also fixed it by replacing the movie file with this one https://www.dropbox.com/s/xu2qy9yuzuk9w5c/op00.mpg?dl=0
Just go into where you downloaded the game and find the wmv movie file and replace it with the mpg one.

The movie uses wmv container to play back for compatibility reasons. Are you using any DirectShow filters that mess with the filter load order?

How far in does the opening play? I am a few hours in and haven't seen it.

I don't think so. I haven't messed around with those settings. I'll try to look into that.

It's about 3/4 into a specific arc

3/4 as in close to the end or is there many arcs?

Meaning close to the end. Just read the spoiler, nothing plot related spoiled.

Yea I don't know how to fix it myself. I tried to install updated codecs but that didn't work. I don't know where to go from there to attempt to fix it.

Could you check your movie settings in the config screen and tell me which option it is using? By default it should be on Windows Media Player (although MCI is listed as the default right now).

It's on windows media player atm. The game just plays the audio and no video when I do. If I attempt to change it to the top two it works for 10 seconds and it crashes.

I got a response from the bug report team. They gave me a mpg file to replace the wmv file and it works now using the second option. Thanks guys!

I am having a similar issue, when the video at the opening plays, the audio part is fine, but the video lags behind at about half speed, and the other two video options crash the game about 10 seconds in. I am not using directshow filters or the like.

I'll give you the fix they gave me https://www.dropbox.com/s/xu2qy9yuzuk9w5c/op00.mpg?dl=0
Download the file and replace it with the wmv file.

I am having a similar problem. Using Windows 10 (including update 1), with the default option for my machine (WindowsMediaPlayer) the video plays, however it is too slow (like 5FPS). DirectShow/MCI works with the correct speed however it crashes after 10 seconds. No DirectShow filters was installed (I tried to install Kawaii Codec Pack after this issue to seem if it would work, however it is still the same).

Sekai Project should include the files in .mpeg format like the original game, since it seems to work.

Btw, for those who want to test this problem, you don't need to play the game very far: just wait for about 1 minute in the main screen of the game (where it show the options like "New Game", "Load", etc.) and the movie should play (and fails horribly).
