Don't Starve and Don't Starve Together

Hey everyone!

Okay, we’re now into the next phase of our Beta! I just wanted to keep you abreast of how things are going, and what is going to happen in the next phase.

A long time ago, we discussed making Don’t Starve Together an update to Don’t Starve, and then raising the price of Don’t Starve to compensate. As we continued with building Don't Starve Together, the code diverged significantly, and it became clear that Don’t Starve Together would be a standalone expansion.

Thus, it didn’t make sense to force a price increase on our players, so in order to give players more choice, we’ve done the following:

All owners of Don’t Starve on Steam will get Don’t Starve Together on June 3rd, 2015!
If you would like to buy both Don’t Starve and Don’t Starve Together as a bundle post-launch, it is $19.99 -- the same price as if we increased the price of Don’t Starve.
If you would only like to buy one or the other, it is $14.99.

This way, people who currently own Don’t Starve on Steam still get multiplayer for free, and all new players get more choice. From a pricing perspective, it’s either the same price (the bundle) or cheaper (if you just want one of the other).

To wrap up, instead of simply updating Don't Starve, we have made it a stand-alone expansion, and we are gifting the game to all Don't Starve players on Steam on June 3rd, 2015.

I hope that clears things up for everyone! Once again, let me know your comments / questions and we’ll be happy to discuss. Now, on to making Wilderness Mode.

I have a question! Have you finished giving out beta codes now? Because me and 3 other friends signed up as soon the signing stage was open, but so far only I was the one who got the keys, four days ago (I gave one to one of these friends, but the other 2 can't play yet).

Heya Brian, there is still a sizable amount of keys to go out for folks that signed up for the beta with a valid email address. Hang in there, we are still on schedule to get every key out by the 15th.

Thanks, good to know! Can't wait to play the game with them, I've tried it with that one friend and it's amazing so far! I like multiplayer even more than single player, I didn't thought that was possible xD.

Hi! I own a copy of DS and I bought the Frontier pack (to give the DS and one of the DST to a friend and keeping the other DST for me) but I just got one copy that I installed, and nothing more.

Hey there klei! I was just wondering about number 1 in regards to owning Don't Starve and getting Don't Starve Together for free.

Was this a time-dependent thing? I had been watching Gassy Mexican and his friends play on YouTube and (due to misinformation) got Don't Starve to play with my housemates, and after I realized my mistake every forum I went to said that owners of the original Don't Starve game would get Don't Starve Together for free, but would then say that we would have to buy the Frontier Pack for ~75% off in order to get it.

I am simply confused on the matter of which one it is.

What's the rationale behind making Don't Starve owners wait until this is out of EA, though? That could be a very long time, and in the mean time a lot of people are getting access for free. Doesn't seem quite right to me, the fans of your game are the ones that are going to wait the longest to actually play it. Bit disappointed. Plenty of other developers have worked out how to allow access to existing owners, and you guys should try to do the same.

Hello! I already have DS and DST in my library, and i wanted to buy another 2 gifts for my friends. So i went to the store page, placed the frontier pack in the cart, but steam said i already have all the games in the pack, so i can't buy it. Is there any way but for my friends to buy it? Thanks in advance
