Will try to keep this shorter compared to my other reviews:

This game has a balancing and combat that feels closer to Wizardry, with a visual presentation that may make you think you're buying an 8-bit era Final Fantasy game. But when dogs and ninjas start decapitating / beheading your party members from near full HP (not animated, but it happens) or your whole party starts getting hit hard with spells, you'll realize this is very much not Final Fantasy. And you might see the credits before you discover options on how to deal with this consistently. Forgot how much I hated that in early Wizardry.

I do like that leveling up doesn't decrease your stats (so far) and that there is a job change system that has been fairly lenient from what I've tried so far. I also like the idea of other adventuring parties you come across and sometimes having items to trade or that they want to buy. Was sad when they stopped wanting to deal though, but I get it.

I appreciate the developer's commitment to ironing out the bugs and quirks in the game. Giving it a recommended as an indie dev that clearly has a lot of passion for this project. So if you like both early Wizardry foundations with and some tracks that may fly too close to Uematsu's compositions at times for 2~4 hours til' credits or more if playing past the credits, then this game may be worth a look for you.

Taking a break to write this review, because the auto-save kicked in 5.5 hours. And while the game warns you about the auto-save, I hadn't noticed it working on the times I tried it out and resorted to saving manually. And the auto-save decided on a finger slip changing jobs. Not the best of feelings. Stagger your saves so you don't end up like me and deciding if you want to even re-level a caster.

If the review is incoherent, it's because I typed it out and deleted it several times in chunks.

The main quest was a fairly short but sweet experience. While the translation had a few small errors here and there the game has a charm to it that I enjoy. It's a fairly easy to digest Wizardry experience on an NES Final Fantasy skin. I won't go too much into spoilers but I found that the game did not wear out its welcome for me. The battle music works quite well considering how often you get to hear it should you wish to grind.

All in all it's a solid experience. For the price point I highly recommend it.
