OH MY GOD
Ogami 18 May, 2017 @ 9:40am
They did not say much, just that a new "Life a Strange" game is in development. No more info for the moment and nothing at E3, they already said that.
So its most likely in VERY early development.
I guess we will see something maybe at Gamescom later this year.

Yeah I wouldn't bet on it being the same characters or the same town, but there is a strong possibilty that they might keep the same time powers as the focus of the story, but even that might also change.

Honestly I think they have a much better chance of producing another hit if they use a new storyline with a new cast of characters because it is VERY difficult to continue the same old, same old, and have it achieve the same results.

We have seen this, more so in movie sequels then in games, but also games that continue the same story rarely achieve much UNLESS they were designed right from the get go to continue that same story like Mass Effect for an example.

However even ME when I got the second game I was dissappointed that they changed how weapon mods worked and simplified it, because I LOVE RPG's that have depth and for me that removed some of the depth that was present in the first game but not in the two sequels.

I guess they'll have the same graphics and level concept, like moving on to another area. The same frame. Just different locations, characters and story.
I'm really looking forward to it.

Very cool.

We have pretty much zero information on the game now. No release time frame, story or cast information. They said in the past that if they did a LiS 2 it would be with a completely new cast, but there have been several fan theories on how they could continue the story if they chose. At the very least this gives the community something new to speculate on for the next couple of years while we wait.

In any case, the game was good enough that they've earned my loyalty for a sequel. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with.

If it was the same setup, they would have to decide how the players have made their decisions. So whatever one has chosen, it would feel pointless. I doubt they will walk into that trap.

This is an interesting thread because it makes you see what "defines" LiS for the players. For me, the most important things they would need to recreate in the sequel are more about mood and motifs. The sensitivity towards characters and their relationships. The depth of emotion. This is what they need to recapture, IMO, propably with other protagonists, in another location, maybe even with different game mechanics.

This exactly. I keep saying if they re-used the old cast, it's going to feel like Max Caulfield: Time Bending Superhero. The lesson has been learnt and friends and family have moved on. What else is there in the Max storyline that needs to re-iterated with a mystical ability? I don't even think the central theme was on the whole time bending to begin with.

I'd like to see something along the same lines but with all new characters to love, a storyline to be engaged with and new lessons to learn.

shame it had to come on such a sad day :'(

Seriously cannot wait for this.
It will be very interesting to see what they do wth it, its so early days that I've not thought about what I would like and not like. I'm pretty sure Dontnod have said in the past that Max & Chloe's story is done, and I get that: the fist LiS was Max & Chloe's story and their story, in the game, is over.

Whatever happens we are getting a new Life is Strange!!! I wonder if people around me at work today wonder why I'm grinning and bouncy like an idiot more than usual on a Friday haha.

I've got some internet radio playing but might swap to my LiS playlist in a bit :steamhappy:

Also despite saying I'll not play LiS yet again for a while after my last playthrough (to finish getting all the photo achievements) and concentrate on some other games I'm yet to finish.. I might just have to play LiS again now.

I can't wait to see the new cast. I hope will take place in a European country and I hope to explore as many possible places.

Kickstart this if you need more development funds... this game took my breath away and I want the next one to be as amazing.
