I am also hard-crashing at that exact location. For now, let's try ignoring the minikit for now and complete the level, then try using other magnet characters to see if it's Cyborg himself or the magnet tool in general that's causing the hard crash.

EDIT: Nevermind, the magnet is required to progress because you need 25 hazmat material to progress (the little red, green, and yellow Lego pieces that aren't built into anything), and the last 5/6 pieces are inside the vats that the magnet tool destroys.

Exited to Watchtower so that I hopefully don't have to play through the Braniac VR mission or the intro cutscenes again...

Ok, just beat the level. Here's my method for bypassing the crash:

Step 1: If you're playing through the level for the first time (mandatory Brainiac VR mission, unskippable cutscenes, etc.), get to the point where you are controlling Cyborg and Lex Luthor.
Step 2: Pause the game and select "Return to Watchtower". You don't have access to a save point in the first part of the level, so any further progress is pointless until the crash is bypassed.
Step 3: Once back in the Watchtower, walk back to the level select screen (which shouldn't have any Brainiac pop-ups this time), select "Big Trouble in Little Gotham", and select Story.
Step 4: After getting control of the characters again, immediately swap to Cyborg and MANUALLY select Cyborg's Magnet suit.
Step 5: Go DIRECTLY to the magnet vats (forward and left of your starting location), and focus on activating the 3 magnets one by one.

Congratulations, you got past the crash. Play the rest of the level as normal. If you want to be safe, grab a "Save and Continue" at the start of one of the next sections.

I got past this one but now I'm crashing at the hope planet with the little bugs on the ceiling. I can't activate them one by one but the game crashes immediately if I try to magnet them.
