This was the beginning of the end, adn I left not only the server but the game. I check back in now and then to see if they've returned it to glory, but no go. It was a good decision saving my money when they went down that road.

Ya , knew a good number of players who did the same.
in my mind the Game is great .. specially the Battle instances ..but also the open world content has improved alot ...but the sad story is that not enough players are playing it :-)
imagine 5000 players online and no npc ships ....could be the greatest pvp game ever ...but not happening til now ...so my big hope is FREE TO PLAY and the servermerge should help a bit too ....

I don't need that much PvP in my gaming experience...which is why NPCs and safe zones are desirable for me.
i quit warserver (and NA) when the battle missions went away and single shots did not do damage anymore.
But i have been annoyed with all weird dev choices, broken promises, yet another or more wipes, cutting good content and adding all the fake barriers like NSM, doubs, combat medals, permits etc.

Bought the game for 37euro at EA Steam launch. That was the most fun time imo. Back then the devs was all about historical accuracy, that was great! Everybody could cap and build anything. Every nation acted as a big clan, could only group up. If i remember correct there were two servers with cap of 1000 (or was it 1500?) all full. Sometimes had to wait to get on haha.
Very in depth crafting (that went away..). Got rich from crafting gun brackets and other ship parts.
Later on i liked the voting system for RvR. I don't think that was replaced with anything good..

Agree with you Dutchman. I got into the game just a few weeks to late to get the "yacht". Guess that was our first clue, the rewards they gave for all our beta testing and suggestions was to turn away from what everyone I knew liked and go down a very poor path. A yacht that wasn't big enough to do anything, a gun boat, and the Pandora, and finally the Triconolee... Last one was somewhat usable, but I'd have rather had a special flag to put on my ships to be honest. The RVR ideas were good, and diplomacy was interesting, and could have become something, but turning everything over to "clans" with regards to who gets resources, and who gets into port battles. My biggest source of anger on this game, I loved port battles, engaged every night I was on for a while there, and they finally put them into the game and added a mechanic (multiple different ones), that limited who could get in and I never did. Yep, when they were interested in historical accuracy, was a great game. Waiting to see what if anything changes after the 30th.

I don't think anything will happen after the 30th.
What will remain are promises of dates that are then withdrawn shortly before the deadline.
