Camera settings in the visual.txt seem to have no effect for Spellforce 3 Reforced
Hi all.
It seems that the changed camera settings in the visual.txt (.../steamapps/common/SpellForceThree/SpellForce3Legacy/bin_win32/configs) have no effect in the Spellforce 3 Reforced game.

In the visual.txt file, under "camera settings" i altered the values for Elevation, FOV, MinDistance and MaxDistance quite substantially, but with no effect in Reforced. When i started Spellforce 3 Legacy (the classic one?), changes in camera zoom and angle can be seen.

How is it possible to apply these changed camera settings also for Reforced? I could not find any information yet regarding this issue. Every source describes that the changes in the visual.txt file will come into effect for Reforced after the game is restarted. Unfortunately, this isn't the case for me. ;(

Thanks.

You're editing the legacy config, you want to extract the one in \SpellForceThree\bin_win32 and then put the config inside your \SpellForceThree\bin_mods_win32\YourMod\configs

Thanks for the quick reply.
You mean i have to copy the visual.txt file into the "\SpellForceThree\bin_win32" folder? Because in "\SpellForceThree\bin_win32", there are only 5 files: package.pak, package.pak.crc, _data, _data1 and _data2.

And in the " \SpellForceThree\bin_mods_win32" folder, there is only one empty text file named "Place your mods here".

I also tried to simply copy the visual.txt file from the Legacy config into both folders above. No effect.

No.
First you launch the game, go into "mods tab" and create a quick mod there, this will create the required folders for you.
Then, you launch the "PakInspector.exe" app, found in your SF3 folder, open the package found in bin_win32, and export the visual.txt file from there then put it into your new config subfolders found in bin_mods_win32

Ok, i did the following:
- launch game -> create a mod -> exit game
- new folder (name of mod) created in the bin_mods_win32
- opened the PakInspector.exe -> Under "File->Open" i opened the package.pak file in bin_win32
- there, under "configs" i only see the visuals.txt, not the visual.txt, where the camera settings are located. So i could not export the visual.txt into my config subfolder in my mod.

Obviously i still missing something here.

Thanks a lot Farlon for your help.

Try camera.txt in exp2 package configs.

This worked now. Big thanks.

Advanced camera/zoom settings would be a nice feature in a future patch.

This may be an old post, but I do not have a camera or even visual in exp2. And like the other person only have visuals in the main pak. =(
