As an adult with limited gaming time per week, I cannot recommend this game. I understand there are people who want to spend lots of time time looking at scenery, but I play MSFS for that, and even then I can jump to coordinates to skip flight time. I wish there was a way to jump to combat. Time compression does not work, and even though the game says it is 8x while playing, it is flat out broken. All it does it shake the camera around to pretend it's speeding things up. Once you do get to combat it is very fun, I spend all my time in instant action but even then they lock all of the good WW2 planes behind hundreds of $ of paid DLC. I would recommend against purchasing. If you play MSFS by flying the entire hours long flight by hand, you will love this game. If not, just buy DCS the original IL-2 1946 and download BAT and other mods.

The things about this title is that it can be experienced as game or a simulation. This is due to the customization options to where you can play it with just a mouse and keyboard with automatic adjustments, or you can kit it out with VR, joystick, pedals, throttle, etc.

My favorite part about this title is the physics-based damage system, to where specific parts of the enemy or your own plane can be damaged and affect specific functions of the plane.

One of my favorite scenarios is trying to return to base with a damaged aircraft, slowly part will fail on you and you will have to adjust to the situation and try to land safely.

This game nails world war 2 aviation.

On paper this game is really good and fun but, its actually pretty bad because you HAVE TO spend money on this game to have fun, you might be wondering why would i say that, well its maybe because the battle of Stalingrad default battle it comes with has a very limited amount of just everything after like 2 weeks of playing the game you will be already bored because you only get such a small about of planes and tanks, but ones you buy all the cool DLC like Normandy, Boneplatte and tank crew the game will be 1000 times better because of just how lacking the default game is it barley has anything so if you are a player who is not looking to spend minimum of at least 70 to 80 dollars (or more WITH sales because without sales that increases to like almost 200 dollars) on this game then its not for you but if you do have the money i would recommend you wait until steam has one if its big sales and snipe some of their DLC and trust me if you do decide to buy (Enough DLC) you will have fun

The game is excellent. The price of the add ons are not.

Don't let the 56 hours fool you, I have more than 100 hours - just not all on Steam. This series is absolutely fantastic. Better yet, it is better in VR! Flight models are solid, the graphics are beautiful and the performance is great - the campaigns are engrossing and this is one of those - it feels like I am there sims. You get the best experience with a HOTAS - dont bother trying to fly with a keyboard and mouse. My only knock, some of the American planes seem a little underwhelming. I would not want to fly a p-38 lightning if they really performed as they do in this simulation. Sitting ducks. That said, everything that is part of the series is excellent. Worth the money.
