Snipers.....are not snipers.
In this prologue, snipers run with the squad and made precise shots at a mid/long range.
This is not really how a sniper works, but a Designated Marksman (or, for being simplier, "Marksman").
You know the M14 DMR, one of the weapon we can give to the sniper in this prologue. DMR stands for Designated Marksman Rifle.
