Or you can try running the DirectX 10 version. There are two ways to run the DirectX 10 version:
* from the Steam Library, to use this option:
1. go to your Steam library
2. right-click on the game
3. choose "Properties..."
4. locate Launch Options on the General screen
5. select "Run Call of Juarez - DirectX 10" in the drop-down.
6. go back to the Library and press the button Play, the desktop shortcut will continue to run the default version
* directly, you will need to locate the executable file and run it, you can also create a desktop shortcut, to use this option:
1. follow steps from 1 to 3 from above
2. switch to Installed Files on the left panel
3. on Installed Files click the button "Browse...", explorer window should open, if you don't see it try switching between windows, it could open behind Steam
4. double-click on CoJ_DX10
If the game doesn't start properly or quits after the intro, you may need to run it in compatibility mode, to enable compatibility mode:
1. locate the executable by following instructions above for running the DirectX 10 version directly
2. left click once on CoJ_DX10 to select it
3. right click on it to see options
4. choose Properties
5. switch to Compatibility tab
6. either click "Run compatibility troubleshooter" or, check "Run this program in compatible mode for:" and select "Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)" in drop-down under the checkbox.
DirectX 10 version worked for me.
