Mankind reborn will never see the day of light
$30 to get a digital copy just to wait for the next playtest which can be weeks or months. I've been following them since 2019. Not just that, it always seems like a delay after delay after delay. Always some excuse why they have to push back updates or redo something. They can't even keep up with their forum. Do not spend $30 on Mankind reborn. Feels like a scam. You will only be paying just to join the playtests(if they do another one) of what they added while everythingelse is disabled. I can see if they leave the servers up and running as they're working on the next update but nope. My advice is to follow them on discord and to wait until they release it in EA or leave the servers up, before spending money.

I wish FoM never shut down. Today's world, true game Devs gets bought out by today's greedy Devs that are only for milking money from players as much as possible before shutting the games down. Quality went out the window and nothing but in-game markets that requires actual money just to play the game P2W just to keep up.

The issue with fom was when they started doing player made companies with such a small population, I found that to be a huge blunder.

Player created companies was a good idea. It was just implemented wrong. They should have increase the amount of money and players needed to create one. Also make the upkeep more expensive. If they run out of money for the upkeep, they would have gotten a notification letting them know that if they don't pay in a few days, their company will be automatically abandoned. Company creation should have been tough and requires dedication to prevent just anybody able to create one. I hope somebody picks up FoM and revives it. Needs to be outsourced. I hated and loved FoM at the same time. Times I wanted it to be taken down and other times I'm glad they didn't lol.

I'd like to add my two cents here and say that game development takes time. Mankind Reborn has a small development team, so everything, including the backend infrastructure, had to be built from the ground up. As time goes on, the game assets are gradually being replaced with custom ones. Also, the team never asked or forced anyone to donate, but instead provided the option after people repeatedly asked for a way to help with the project. I don't see how that could be construed as a con. It appears to be a little harsh.

Playtests are exactly what they sound like. A period of time during which important mechanics are tested by the community while also providing a glimpse into what can be expected in the future, and they should not be active 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Mankind Reborn did a playtest for several months when the servers were up 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Discord is, indeed, the new forum. The Discord server is active, and most game-related information is shared there. There's a good chance the forums will be decommissioned in the near future.
