Forum Rules and Discussion Guidelines
Recently, we’ve seen an increase in the amount of forum users and discussions popping up on this board. While many of you know the basic rules and steam guidelines, there are other rules that we want to establish to keep this forum active with healthy discussion, cut down the salt, and provide a good atmosphere for veterans and new players alike.

The developers of BMG and the moderators here are pretty lenient; we try not to interfere too much, but do take action if things start getting more heated. The point of this thread is to just outline some general rules that we expect from all users of the forum. This thread will also remain open, in case anyone has questions.

We want to express that we’re going to maintain some level of leniency, things like:
  • Salty threads - It’s okay to be salty, everyone has their days. Everyone has had that match that made them tilt and exclaim that this legend or weapon is broken. Complaining about legends, spam, passive/defensive/aggressive playstyles is fine. Just don’t publicly shame other players or take your salt too far. There’s a line between venting and attacking.

  • Everyone is entitled to their opinions - You want to call Brawlhalla a smash clone? That’s fine. However, know that what you have is just an opinion, and others are entitled to theirs as much as yours. If someone disagrees with yours, accept it, discuss it if you wish, but don’t turn it into an argument or flame war.

  • Disagreeing with developer decisions - Again, you’re entitled to disagree and not everyone is going to like a new weapon or a mechanic, especially not right away. Telling them to “fix their game” and such is fine, calling them out and personally insulting them is not.

  • Advertising your YouTube/Twitch/etc - We actually get semi-frequent reports about these and have discussed this issue. If you run a Brawlhalla Twitch, YouTube or other platform and want to show it off, that’s fine with us. If you’ve created a new guide and want other’s feedback, have at it. However, begging for views or likes, or posting/advertising content that’s not related to Brawlhalla is not allowed.

On the flip side of the coin, there are things that we as moderators hate seeing. Some are obvious disregard for the Steam Forum rules, while other are a little more vague. Here’s a run down on things we don’t want to see and will take action against. Keep in mind that this is just a run down of basic rules. The general steam forum rules still apply here as they do every other discussion board.

  • Racism of any kind - This includes names.

  • Creating/Encouraging/Fueling flame wars - If you and another user are in disagreement with something, don’t take it too far. Back and forth banter can be healthy in some situations, but deliberately trying to insult someone or make them angry is not. If you created a thread but don’t intend to listen to anyone else’s contribution to your discussion, then your thread will be locked.

  • Spamming - Creating threads with gibberish, random letters, off topic discussion is not allowed. It buries other threads, potentially bumps dead topics (necroing), and wastes moderator time. Comments like “git gud” counts as spam but also incites flame wars and contributes nothing to the topic.

  • Witch Hunting - We do not allow witch hunting of any kind of the forums. If you met someone in game that insulted you, report it with the in-game feature. Do not come to the forums with a screen shot showing who that person is.

  • Derailing threads - Any off topic comment that attempts to throw the discussion out the window is considered derailing. However, we’re not going to hammer down on everyone who makes an off topic comment, especially if they were previously adding to the discussion. Making a light hearted joke in an overly serious thread can lighten a tense mood. We understand that, and we’re not going to be strict about that.

  • Arguing with moderators - If a thread got locked or a comment deleted that you feel shouldn’t have, don’t create a new one calling them out. There’s times when a misunderstanding happens and moderators make mistakes like everyone else. If you want to privately discuss the matter, message one of us on our steam profiles and we’ll gladly hear you out. At the very least, we can explain why we took action on a particular thread or post.

  • Begging for Community Colors (CCs) - Community Colors are handed out to members of the community who have contributed their time to make this a better place, and are also raffled off on streams quite frequently. The forums are not the place to get them and begging for them is not the way to receive them.

  • False, spam, or otherwise unnecessary reports - This forum is not Reddit, and the report button is not a downvote button. It is not there so you can report posts that you disagree with. The moderators here work hard, we don't need to sift through a bunch of fake reports because, "he plays noob legend."

  • Buying, selling, promoting or otherwise encouraging the use of bots or scripts - Botting (be it through a third party program, script, or through physical means) for gold, legend levels/colors, etc are strictly prohibited and are a bannable offense in Brawlhalla. As such, encouraging the use in any way is prohibited on the board (including the guide section).

Hopefully the forums continue to flourish as the game grows and as the new players come in, the veterans will be there to help. We don’t want to hold your hand while you make discussions, but we also don’t want to sift through dozens of reports because people can’t help but insulting each other.

That's not spam, you can't just "count something as spam". That's an honest advice, maybe a little brutal, but most times that's exactly the solution to their problems.

With little time played and not much experience they open threads demanding nerfs for a specific legend which they lost to a few times, a specific weapon for the same reason or some game mechanic that they can't counter.

All they need is a little more time playing the game to understand better it's mechanics and learn how to counter them properly.

And that's what git gud means :steamhappy:

I will continue to help and guide all these players with my wisdom on this subject :steamhappy:

It is considered spam. It offers nothing to any of the discussion and it certainly doesn't make already frustrated players feel any better. We allow people to be salty precisely for the reason that some people angry until they get proper help.
In other words, a lot of people already know that if they became better, the issues they would have would disappear. You're not telling them something they don't already know and it only increases their level of frustration.

Telling someone a few common flaws that most people make or some helpful tips that you've done to improve is not the same as telling someone to simply "get better at the game".

Strings and combo inputs and using bots for being afk and making money
i have a question:
if a guy let hit his teammate and suicide in public FFA game at last time (example: orion with 9 points, hattori with 8 points and his teammate gives him 2 points and wins the game) ¿will count as "Buying, selling, promoting or otherwise encouraging the use of bots or scripts" or something like that?

Nope! Plus these are only the forum rules and guidelines.
