Curse Trojan
I'm not turning off my anti-virus for this game.

Or any game.

Glad it was "free".

To hell with these asian mmo's.

Screw their "trojans".

Have you ever considered the fact that your anti-virus you're using is problably ♥♥♥♥ for marking false trojans as virus?

I once clicked something ingame, i think it was in the cash shop; it opened up my C: Drive and minimized my game. Then when I reopened the game I had an ingame popup tell me that the game will shut down because it senses use of illegal programs running. So in a nutshell, it opened up my C: Drive, then thought the C: drive was an illegal program and shut itself off. Haven't played this game since.

Certainly an interesting event there. Been playing since OBT started and something like that has never happened to me lol.

As for the OP... You're using AVG aren't you?

Those are false signs. I made a thread to fix the AVG issue check it out. :elrath:

We're working on the antivirus issue, though I assure you EOS is perfectly safe.

You don't really have to diable your antivirus, simply list EOS as an exception.

We are aware that some anti-viruses are detecting a virus or a Trojan upon launching Echo of Soul.

However, don't worry! The only reason why this is happening is because these AVs cannot access some of the data of the game.

This data is actually protected in order to prevent any unwanted modification on the game, but is it flagged by the anti-virus as a potential threat because it cannot be scanned.

There is a way to work around it: all you have to do is to add the game files as an exception in your AV settings.

Here are a few examples of how this can be done.

If you manually go in AV quarantine section and give an order to restore and skip the scanning then you will get
the game working.

Your game itself may be safe, but bitdefender isn't, and you're losing a lot of potential players because of it.

I'm supposed to just take your word that its safe?

No offense. I don't know you. I don't trust you.

If your so paranoid that I am going to cheat then you are insane.

Online banking isn't this paranoid.

Err its been out for 2 weeks and well... no one been affected by it being a "trojan" and also a game which has been published on steam, wouldn't have been put on if it was a trojan.

Don't trust your anti-virus program, it may be a virus. Get spook'd, don't trust the system.

You're welcome not to trust me, we're well aware of the issue and working on getting white listed by the affected anti-virus providers.

Also, my online banking is super paranoid :P

Emotet IBT is not, as the GM/community rep claims, a product of being unable to scan parts of the game. Antivirus software will not detect an "access denied" as having the fingerprint of very specific malware.

This is a very specific trojan intended to steal banking/private data through keylogging. It performs the function of data harvesting, network access interception and it can be used as a remote control to download other malware.

This entire free game is malware and must be avoided. I can see why Valve kicked them off Steam, to protect gamers.
