Update 3.2 introduces multiple gameplay improvements, including a further increase to the warehouse space. This update also sees plenty of bug fixes, addressing many of the key issues reported by the Skull and Bones community.

UI for Mouse and Keyboard Controls
Dev note: Following the PC/Mouse & Keyboard changes released as part of Season 3, we observed a slight difficulty increase in navigation while hovering over items. Previously, players could preview tooltip information by simply hovering but were now required to click on the item before they could view its details. With this change, we hope to reduce the friction needed to access key information while still retaining the PC/Mouse & Keyboard improvements released in Season 3.

• Added the ability to preview tooltips in various menus when hovering over the mouse in the Cargo and Warehouse menus.
  
• Clicking on an item will continue to “lock” the tooltip in place.

• Fixed an issue where bounties were automatically accepted and immediately failed.

• Fixed an issue where the Hulk unlocks the auxiliary slot at level 2 instead of level 3.

Dear Captains,

As some of you may be aware, the deployment of our Y1S3.1 Update a couple of weeks ago encountered several unforeseen technical issues, forcing us to significantly extend our scheduled maintenance. Additional issues arose when we switched the servers back on, which we fortunately were able to address relatively quickly.

However, due to those issues, we’re aware all our players were made completely unable to manage their Helm Empire and collect their Pieces of Eight as intended. In some cases, some players also benefited from a bug allowing them to generate a significant number of Pieces of Eight in a relatively short time.

As stated in our Letter from the Producer published at the end of Season 2: https://ubi.li/h8x17, we take such matter very seriously, and have been working on implementing better tools allowing us to identify what we consider to be a bug exploit, and sanction players we believe to be taking advantage of those.


Today we’d like to give you more visibility on the actions we took to address issues that followed our update Y1S3.1 specifically:

1. For players who have benefited from the issue and gained a significant number of Pieces of Eight but did not use them to purchase any item or upgrades, we successfully retrieved said Pieces of Eight from their inventories directly with no further action or consequence required.
   
2. For players who have benefited from the issue, gained a significant number of Pieces of Eight, and used those to purchase items or upgrades, sanctions have been given out ranging from a simple warning to a temporary ban from playing Skull and Bones, based on the severity of the case.

Finally, based on player feedback, we’ve also spent time to revisit our compensation packages. As such, and as a compensation for recent servers’ downtime and issues, every player who logs into the game from 2 October 2024, 8AM UTC to 1 November 2024, 8AM UTC will receive the following items:

We wanted to give you all an update following up on the technical issues encountered during our Title Update Y1S3.1 which was deployed during the Monday 16th September (PT) / Tuesday 17th September’s (CEST/AET) weekly maintenance.

We were forced to extend our maintenance significantly to identify and fix the source of a critical issue, causing systematic server crashes.

In addition, and thanks to the many reports and feedback received from the community, we were quickly made aware the update brought additional issues. These affected your Helm Empire and Pieces of Eight production, once our servers were made available again on Tuesday 17th September at approximately 7pm (CEST)/10am (PT)/Wednesday September 18th, 3am (AET).

Last but not least, we are actively investigating and monitoring the impact those issues have had on players’ progression and the amount of Pieces of Eight generated between the end of the first scheduled maintenance and the start of the emergency maintenance.

While our primary goal is to verify that reported issues are addressed, we also want to ensure that no one has unfairly benefited from those issues - and that our end-game economy remains balanced - we will do our best to avoid any progression loss made since our servers came back online.

As announced earlier today, the maintenance is being extended.

Our teams have identified a critical issue causing systematic server crashes. To ensure a smooth and stable experience for everyone, we made the decision to extend the maintenance until further notice whilst we are working on resolving the situation as quickly as possible.

We understand this is not something the community wants to hear, and this may be frustrating. We deeply appreciate your patience while our team works to fix the issue.

Dev note: In Patch 2.2, we introduced changes to make World Events accessible on a fixed schedule. We have since been closely observing player feedback, and while the scheduling changes were generally well-received, we also noted that the community felt that the map was getting increasingly cluttered, making it difficult to locate relevant content.
In Patch 3.1, we’re making some visual tweaks to the World Event markers to reduce the space occupied, as well as making some changes to the default visibility of World Events on the map. Only the closest active World Event of each type will be shown on the map border. You may choose to adjust this behaviour through the Customize User Interface section in the settings menu to suit your preferences.

• Players can now add funding to manufactories that are actively generating Pieces of Eight to increase the length of production. The cost will be proportionate to the remainder of the amount of time added on. Players may start funding at a minimum of an additional ten minutes.
  
• Example: After a Manufactory is active for 6 minutes, players cannot add funds to this Manufactory because the minimum add-on funding starts at 10 minutes.
  
• Example: A manufactory has been active for 57 minutes. Players will now have the option to add funds to extend production by 50 minutes. Any add-on production time is rounded down to the nearest ten minutes.
  
• Players can perform supply runs on manufactories with less than 15 minutes of funding time remaining. The cost of the supply run is scaled proportionally to the funding time remaining.
  
• Changed territory collection of Pieces of Eight to deduct (tax) from the collected amount rather than deducting from players’ existing amount of Pieces of Eight.
  
• Added faction icon and name to manufactory tooltip.

• Upon failing the Manufactory Defense, the Manufactory production downtime is now 1 hour, regardless of Manufactory level.

• Repair mortars now affect the player that fired it if they are within the area of effect

Dev Note: We are introducing more dynamism to the open world through chance encounters which include sea monsters and ghost ships to enrich the sense of wonder while sailing out at sea. We acknowledge that these may impact the difficulty of world events should they overlap, and we are actively monitoring community feedback to adjust the rules for triggering these events to achieve a good balance.

• Added stack quantity and splitting/merging stacks in ship customization.
  
• Multiple copies of the same weapon, armour, and furniture are now stacked in the Ship Customization screen.
