"Free" paid mods that also won't destroy your computer and/or sell your data to a Nigerian prince or something is a much harder combination to find.
There is no way that a set of raw BeamNG.drive mod files can make the game engine inject malicious code into your machine.
You are absolutely spreading misinformation. Unless you have proof to support your claim, like a snippet of code in a file or even a simple virus scan results page, then by all means, show me how it's possible.
You know nothing about what you're speaking on.
As for the OP:
It took me 1 minute to find this page on google. At least 50 different bikes and other stuff to try.
modland dot net/beamng.drive-mods/motorcycles
Replace the "dot" in the link above with just a .
I change links to avoid Steam's spam filter. You'll have to copy/paste into the browser bar, but there are your mods.
RickWinger, a professional(citation needed), casually outs themselves into the world with an unnecessarily long dissertation in an attempt to make innocent Steam users look like the boogey-man while also completely disregarding basic internet safety and benefit of doubt. Okay, I will entertain you a little; please don't bore me.
Modland and other such websites in of themselves are notorious in the use of reuploaded mods - usually without permission from the original creators - are inherently treated with an err of concern from the community *because* there's no way of knowing what you're downloading if it's not official. This is the internet after all, accessible to anybody, including people with malicious intent. Plenty of threads about this if you're willing to read them -- better yet, you can reach out to other mod creators and ask them yourself since you seem so confident of your own words.
You're correct in some cases that raw mod files can't hurt your computer, however that's because downloading it and accessing it are two different things. From what *I* know, When you put a virus mod into your mods folder and open the game, the game accesses them, and I assume that's where the malicious code gets read and takes effect.
The websites themselves store cookies that take snippets of information about you, such as if you put in your Steam login info into a website and press enter, those people have that info on you now. Worst yet is if they have a keylogger that let's them see what you're doing the second you access the page. I was a victim of this at one point and I had to completely change my login details before the hackers had their way with my account. They were Russian of course, another red flag.
The primary idea everyone here is talking about is the possibility both the website and the mod files they store can and use all of these methods to infect your system. Which is why you should stick to moderated sites like Beamng's official forums or its repo. You can research more about this topic on your own "with a one-minute search engine result" you mentioned in your post if you care that much in what we have to say. Something tells me you don't and you simply want to argue.
I'd appreciate if you don't accuse me or anyone of "spreading misinformation" when all we're trying to do is help you stay out of trouble: it's downright rude and makes *you* look bad.
Meshslaps are a possibility but the problem is they're usually marked as such on Beamng's forums to begin with, so you know very well what you're buying. This "scam" has a higher chance of tricking you if you use a non-official forum to get them. Considering most paid mods are a couple bucks to 15 USD, the asking price is not much. That's another reason why you shouldn't use Modland.
